Not sure what the connection is with setting the MBs and leadership ability. Regarding Hunter, it wouldn't surprise me if she redshirts this year. She medical-redshirted last season. The NCAA isn't going to grant her a special exemption waiver just because Pollmiller is a senior. Wow. There are no words. Everytime you post something, it becomes apparent that you know nothing about...anything.

Hunter received a medical redshirt from last year - for what? She never looked hurt to me. Are you sure about this?

I have some comments and questions!
1. I think there has been a definite issue on the MB position for Nebraska and this has been going on for a long time. I strongly believe that is the reason NU hasn't advanced to a Final Four in a long time! The OH and libero's are always superb, but the MB vulnerabilities are always costly down the stretch. How as the progress on the Germany girl and Sweden girl coming?
2. This leads to my next question. What is the recruiting status on Fitzmorris, has she made any verbals yet? Is Nebraska actively recruiting any middles down the stretch that have all-star capabilities besides her? I am aware of the USA girl from Iowa they have already recruited, Foecke. Just wondering if there is any word on the street of anyone they are actively looking in to.
3. What is the offense like they are running in China? I was wondering how the OH2 position was going? I thought a good possibility would be to run a third middle on the OPP position like Texas does. and move Amber to the OH2. But if the one girl from California is at the OH2 spot and she is doing great, then there might not be a need to? How is she doing?
4. Any impact freshmen coming in this year?
5. Why did the one Texas girl transfer? Brenna?
6. I think those twins are going to be amazing one day. They were very good last season. I was impressed! Also impressed with the libero. Disappointed in the middles and setting. It just never got developed properly.

We'll see. It seemed MP had a disconnect setting the middles much of last season. Also since KH is the future, I expect to see her a lot more this season. Not sure what the connection is with setting the MBs and leadership ability. Regarding Hunter, it wouldn't surprise me if she redshirts this year. Hunter played at a high level in China, there will be competition for the setting position in August.

I don't expect Kelly to Redshirt: I think having two good setters on the squad is a good thing! GBR!

Maybe they'll both make meaningful contributions. What I would hate to see is another year of eligibility being used up for Hunter without her playing meaningful minutes.

Could be, but redshirting isn't for everyone; depends on whether of not an extra year of college fits into one's plans!

I have a friend in Nebraska who taped and sent me quite a few Papio matches when KH and twin towers were seniors. IMHO, KH is flat out a better setter than MP. On GLARING difference is her much better connection with the middles. It was obvious to anyone with a pulse that the lack of offense from the middles was a big factor in Nebraska's losses to other high quality teams. Some of Kelly's backsets are reminiscent of Lauren IMHO. I won't be a bit surprised to see KH beat out MP this season. It seemed from a leadership on the court standpoint, Robo was the uncontested floor general so I tend to think her familiarity and connection with MP from their days together @ Tennessee had a fair amount of influence on why she played so much before Kelly got hurt. Kelly is the future so she needs to get a lot of PT this season.

Hunter's playing time decreased well before her injury occurred, and if she was a "flat out better setter" than Mary last year, she would have won the starting job at the beginning of the season. No offense, but I'll trust John Cooks decision in that regard. I had watched, in person, probably over a dozen marches involving Papio South the last three years the trio played there and you are nuts if you think, based on that, that Hunter is a better setter than Mary. And you're REALLY going out on a very shaky limb when you mention her in the same sentence as Lauren a Cook. That's just wacky talk. And don't forget, Mary was B1G SOTW I think four times last season. And this was against a bit stiffer competition than the likes of Westside High. Mary won the starting job last year because she performed better. I think you're giving way too much weight to her connection with Robo. Don't get me wrong... I like Kelly Hunter a great deal and I think she'll be a terrific setter at Nebraska. That make come to fruition sooner than later.

I think Mary got the job last year over Kelly based on connection to Robinson, and more experience. It does sound like Kelly had a good trip so I think we could see them push it other in fall camp. It would not surprise me if Kelly gets the start over Mary, but Mary at this point has the inside track.
