Can't believe the (relatively) stubby Bulgarian OH (Smirov?) didn't lead in aces. He had three or four in one rotation v. the USA.
If Sander was #4 in receiving % then serving technique must be way up. Not saying he's bad, but that's #4 out of, what, 24 returners? I know Sunderland was complaining about the number of mens service errors on the womens Brazil webcast the other night; I guess teams really go for it, and fail. His solution was once you get, say, three service errors in a set, then the other team gets two points when you make an error. I think going back to underhand passing only would be better.

It seems to be implied, but just to make sure, and as noted by baywatcher, does that Sander receiving stat mean he's the 4th most efficient passer in World League? Really? Only way I see this is because of the quantity of serves he had to receive...

It seems to be implied, but just to make sure, and as noted by baywatcher, does that Sander receiving stat mean he's the 4th most efficient passer in World League? Really? Only way I see this is because of the quantity of serves he had to receive... Well lets see this in more detail. NAME CTY TOT ATT EXCELLENTS FAULTS SERVE REC EFFIC % (EXCELL-FAULTS/TOT ATT) Shoji USA 245 146 17 82 52,65% Mika POL 296 138 15 143 41,55% Salparov BUL 217 106 18 93 40,55% Sander USA 239 119 24 96 39,75% As you can see Sander is a capable receiver, but there's a fly in the ointment. Against Bulgaria 2nd match, Russia 2nd match and Serbia 1st match, he made awful passing in KEY MOMENTS. So stats not always tell all the story. Another point, Rooney had 181 total attempts but only 8 faults. But make no mistake, Sander is on the way to become one of 3 top players in his position, he must only work hard in his passing, very hard.
