Transfers are no certainty, and I don’t think a transfer will occur (in time) that would affect Batenhorst’s decision. Even IF Davis or any of the 2019 players leave (which I’m not saying will happen), they will likely do it after the 2019 season and by then Batenhorst will be in her junior year, either committed to whoever is on her radar or waiting for Stanford. For the sake of Batenhorst, Kubik, and Krause’s development as potential OH’s for USA, I think it would be better for Batenhorst to go elsewhere. Plus I think Zuhn and Endlsey are no slouches as pin hitters. True there’s no guarantee what will happen in the upcoming years, but a top player like Batenhorst should certainly take this perspective into account. I don’t know what the scholarship situation is at NE, but that should also be a consideration. Endsley being "no slouch" is a bit of an understatement. I had multiple coaches tell me that she was "the best player in the gym regardless of age group" at a tournament earlier this spring. As of right now I'd be shocked if she didn't end up being a top 5 senior ace. Regardless, the idea of avoiding other talented players on the roster is something Cook speaks directly about when recruiting. He tells recruits straight up that if they are looking for an easy path to playing time that he doesn't want them. He tells them only the most competitive athletes should come to Lincoln. He's trying to build champions and future Olympians/professionals. Any athlete looking for an easy out will only hurt the culture and success of his program. He's willing to forgo talented players if they don't have an intense competitive spirit or don't believe they're the best player every time they walk out onto the court. Fair points... Stockpiling all the top recruits will be good for Cook’s chances to win, even if it means some of those top recruits will ride the bench.

I love your positive vibe for everything Nebraska related. In terms of good news. LOL If it happens, the practice court at Nebraska(if every current player and predicted verbal Husker) will be insanely competitive. Even now thru 2020 is a full roster. Some real matches will be letdowns from practices. The practices will be iron sharpening iron. I don’t know about 2018 because the second setter from the Czech Republic isn’t a sure thing, right now, from what I can gather. With great coaching I don’t think I’m embellishing the possible talent on the rosters now and into the future. I know other teams can match our starters and with other prominent players in the backcourt, frontcourt and seeing rotations. But our depth of talent can be as good as anybody. The DS from Israel is here. The last piece, an important one, is the second setter. Czechmate Nebraska? Or not. Time is getting within about a month, I believe, for practices to start. We don’t need a sprained ankle to our setter to derail a full roster at all other positions. The second very competent setter would create basically two teams on one roster. OK, I’m one MB, S, and DS short, right now. I’m assuming the two international players are good players. JC has to have a good idea with all the possible applicants. LOL and GBR

Any word on Marie Kurkova? tic-toc-tic-toc Marie is in the dreaded waiting game with the NCAA. Her hands are tied. That's nuts. NEBRASKA needs to drop the hammer. Kind of a big deal for her and the school to know? I'll do some digging on my end and find out whats up! She should just sneak in through the southern border maybe? might be easier.

2019: Setter: Hames O1: Sun O2: Kubik, Davis, Slaughter Opp: Sweet, Szabo, M1: Stivrins M2: McClellan, Schwarz, Stutheit Libero: Miller/Knuckles DS: Miller/Knuckles, Abramovich, Dens, Gabriel ***Zuhn: Any offensive position, probably middle-bound***
That's gonna be some serious depth. And endsley&meyer coming the following year (nobody graduating).

Yeah the ones that stand out to me the most are Davis and the middles. Sweet should also feel some pressure to develop a considerable amount this year, it wouldn't be the first time Cook replaced a veteran opposite with what he felt was a better option(a la 2013)
