Johnson is from the tiny town of Aviston, which is 5 miles from Breese. I grew up about 20 miles to the southwest of there. A friend of mine saw her at the Dream Team Camp last month. She said Johnson has a lot of promise and has some good tools to work with. I think she was at an earlier camp and was invited back to the invitation only DTC. Coach Cook relishes the opportunity to work with raw players such as Abby. I will be very interested indeed in watching her development. What are the good tools she possesses? At camp she seemed a little slow still with coachable footwork issues. Her best asset is she is quite coordinated for her size and drops a hammer. I actually think she could be a great contributor for her teams. Good get, but was surprised she accepted a walk on. Good for her.

Good height, natural strength and feet, hops (touches 10’2”), and a potent arm. Good stuff to work with. She’s not without a fair chance in helping us down the road. The article said Johnson turned down some decent scholarship offers in order to walk on to Nebraska. She’s not coming to Lincoln to play tiddlywinks!

At this point, the success of her athletic future relies on a continuously strong work ethic.

Hmmm I know of a couple 2023 southern cal kids that are getting heavy looks right now, not sure of this north cal kid. I’m gonna have to put the Northern California freshman (2022) on a back burner for now. I’ll toss out a Southern California freshman that I like VERY much but more importantly our staff is looking at closely. Elia Rubin - 6’1”- OH - Marymount HS (Los Angeles). She’s a good all around player already, will be a 6-rotation player in college. I wish she was taller but she’s tall enough. Not the true RS player that we need for this 2022 class, but she can play over there and Zuhn and/or Batenhorst could move to the right side too. Who are the 2023 players you speak of? I’ll give you some names I know of: Mele Faiva, Angelina Sayles, Ashley Artura, Bella Rittenberg, Maia Niemen, Jaylen Clark, Iris Canko, Annelise Rising, Bianca Merloti, Grace Thrower, Carly Greskovics, and Danit Cohen. Those are Southern California 2023’s. Found a video of one of these 2023 hopefuls (Angelina Sayles). Nice video!

I posted this on another thread too, but at the end of Angelina Sayles' videos, it has links to her other 2019 Club videos. Quite an impressive player! Offense is sound, Defense is off the charts and a topspin serve at 14 - crazy. She is short though at 5'10", so she needs to do some GROWING, but there is time. Stats are impressive:
2019 Club Season Stats:
458 Kills / 3.319 Kills Per Set
590 Digs / 4.245 Digs Per Set
42 Blocks / 1.235 Blocks Per Set
93 Aces / 1.661 Aces Per Set
I am including the other videos I found on her here. I will be looking for some other videos of those 2023 hopefuls to see what lies ahead.

Found another: Bianca Merloti (OH - Class of 2023). It would appear she is making quite a few errors and hitting the ball out quite a bit. Looks like they are cutting the plays right before the ball actually lands out:

The way recruiting is shaping in 2023, I think walking on might be only option. I think they pretty much have this class solidified

I think we’re only looking at one of those players I listed.

Hopefully a good impact wrench. Hard to overstate the value. Hammers, drills and screwdrivers get all the glory. The impact wrench does all the grunt work.

Does Dani get credit for any recruits after 2019? This will be danis third season at Louisville right? If so, I would assume some 2020s were recruited in a way by her, before the new rule cook had a rep for recruiting 8th grade/ freshman so I'm guessing she talked to a couple of 2020s

Did you see in the 2020 class that Madi Endsley is ranked 23 and Kalynn Meyer is ranked 21? Thoughts were split on here about how good these 2 would be.
