Although, in true Vtalk style, an observation has turned into a rumor, finally an assumption, about Prieto transferring, I will join in with the flippant observation that she could transfer to Hawaii, fill an immediate need, and spend two years on the beach, great weather, in front of great crowds. I seriously don't understand why that isn't really an option for outstanding players looking to transfer. No island sickness for four years, with only a two year commitment; what a collegiate experience. But of course much further away from home. Indeed such tremendous potential and all great programs to choose from but it seems from the outside the overwhelming need is for Paulina to be closer to home. All indications I have ever heard seem to point this way.

Grant was serving when Penn State saved their championship last year in Game 5 v. Stanford, going from 7-9 down to a significant lead, I believe. (Grrr!!) Clutch.

Interesting development. I believe Texas finished second for her services; Destinee Hooker was her favorite player. Not sure if Texas has any 'ships available for 2014, but I'd love to have her on our squad. She is a very skilled player. It's like a trade....we took your coach who you really took from us in the first place so we will give a player instead [br I'll take Rockwell for Paulina any day of week

I don't know why so many think this will have a negative impact on Penn State or be a windfall for some other program. Prieto wasn't going to be a starter this year or any other year at Penn State. She added some depth and has a decent serve on those rare occasions when it gets over the net.

Paulina came into some games last year during Penn State's tournament run and made key contributions. Whether she would have a chance to expand her role this year is something we will never know. I hope the best for all the players as they navigate through their college career and I hope Paulina finds a school and situation that is a good match.

[b Paulina like Ali loungo got her championship. Now she probably wants to play so good for her. Don't think she would get that chance at psu. She is a good player who could probably excel on another team. Psu just has to much depth and to many talented players. Their isn't room for everyone to get quality playing time

And realistically Paulina I don't think would have been starter anyway

Kids want to play where their families can see them (for the most part). And the conference travel for Hawaii is brutal.

They are only in his mind. Paulina has a cheerful and engaging personality who had a positive impact with her teammates. Probably 90% of d-1 WVB players would never be starters for Penn State. Paulina has the satisfaction of being a starter while Scott was injured.

Whatever, there just aren't that many ladies with championship rings. You should realize that the 90% figure includes players that don't want to move that far from home and those that want to be a big fish in a small pond, in addition to those who couldn't qualify athletically. Thankfully there are college VB programs to satisfy most players.

I'm skeptical that she's transferring to be closer to family (whomever mentioned that). I'm guessing you'll see her on the roster of the best team who can free a scholie and who desperately needs a starter at her position.
She probably just wants to play and will land at a school who can contend for a conference title and final four.

I distinctly remember a thread involving PSU fans claiming that either Rose said, or they thought (some combination of that), that Prieto and Whitney were the best OH's in the gym... Now Prieto is nowhere to be found and Whitney is going on year 4 with no definitive spot on the floor....

I never remember Prieto being mentioned in that line of thought.
