Okay gotta nuther question for everyone...
I was curious the opinions of coaches and players regarding 'intersquad' incentives and/or competitions. I have seen several articles either for or against but I wanted some real world opinions.
What I mean by that is as a coach (or as a player receiving such), do you condone or shy away from rewarding your players? Do you have a 'best play of the match' award or do you have a 'best setting percentage' award, etc. throughout your season?
I even found one school that ranks their girls like karate belts. Everyone starts with a white 'belt' (arm band / uniform pin / hair ribbon) As they achieve certain criteria, they move up in rank. The goal being to get everyone to a 'Black Belt' status by the end of the season.
Anyway... Just curious if anyone has any thoughts on this one way or the other. TIA!

We use weekly awards. We have a PPOW or practice player of the week. They get a PPOW shirt that they wear in practice. We give awards for reaching statistical based goals in matches which are put in their lockers. This is like a sticker that football players get. They get to keep these in their locker for all four years they play.
