Are the current Collegiate Sand Players allowed to participate in AVP/NVL Tournaments?

Once school starts they are restricted to USAV only events. So no AVP, NVL or FIVB events.
This rule is BS. The season doesn't start until Spring. You will soon find players like Sara Hughes following Summer to the pro's with no chance to try for the Olympics while in college.
Track & Field, water polo, & other sports are full of collegiate Olympians.
They may accept money equal to their expenses but cannot bank winnings from say an early event to help cover expenses for the rest of the seasons events. Another BS move by the NCAA. So the family either has to have disposable income to fund the event expenses or find donations from people, not sponsorships.
I was listening to an ESPN interview with Pat Hayden, AD @ USC he says the landscape is about to change, and big time. I hope so for the athletes sake.

As a mom with three teens, and two that probably have the skill to play their sport in college (if their hearts stay in it), I have a huge grudge with the NCAA.
I would be really interested in hearing about any upcoming changes. I can't say that I know all the details or anything, but what you said above regarding the Olympics is ridiculous.
It's silly to think that taking a $100 from a win in a little tournament makes anyone a professional. I don't think I would consider anyone a professional athlete if they can't support themselves with their earnings - not endorsements, but being good enough to win. That may not be the best "test", but as a mom, I'm thinking, "OK, is she earning enough to cover her own expenses or am I still the financial support?"
