I had heard rumors that Badger fans have employed some kind of mythical/magical incantation to (unfairly) boost the performances of Lauren Carlini. But I never had proof -- until now. Someone left a recording of what I'll call "The Carlini Song" on my doorstep, along with the following note: "this what the Wisconsin fans are singing (or chanting) during matches -- but furtively, stealthily, like . . . well, badgers. Because they know the chant gives Carlini supernatural powers and skills. But I fear it's impossible to stop them. Unless you can think of a way -- I've lost hope." I transcribed the tape in the hope that some non-badger fan will see in the lyrics a weak point that will enable honest (normal) folk to counteract the spell of the song:
When the passing's awry, but the kills multiply, that's Carlini If you see open space, but her block's in your face, that's Carlini In 5-1 or 6-2, she's a phenom, it's true, that's Carlini So if winning's your thing, there's one setter to bring, that's Carlini.
It's a long shot, but darn it, this is America. There's no place here for spell-casting volleyball fans or setters with talent that is unreal. Really unreal. Please help.
(P.s. Though the quality of the recording was terrible -- and all the Badger fans were mumbling, what with their stealthily chanting and whatnot, I believe this was sung/chanted to the tune of "That's Amore")
