Paulina is great in the front but a little spastic in the back row. I think she will contribute and she just might be an it factor for the horns. More spastic than Amy Neal, Cat or Pilar in the backrow? Slower than Eckerman? I find that a little hard to believe. I think she's an upgrade for TX in the back row. Don't know about the incoming libero, who's been touted as fantastic. I just know that Cat is bad. Pilar and Amy provide little passing relief. We'll see what happens! shouldnt be nit-picky but in this case it might be necessary. "Cat" is actually Kat, and Cat is Catherine McCoy, the incoming libero. Similar names and positions, easy to mix them up!

Texas was loaded before but I think bringing in Baker/Prieto will unload some of the pressure that was going to be placed on Eckerman's shoulders. And Baker redshirted, hence why she "rode the bench" and Prieto was playing behind Deja/Scott who have 7 All-American awards between the two of them. Texas was going to be great before, but adding in 2 former top 10 recruits on the pins makes them even more lethal. Texas still is "questionable" at setter. Potential to be awesome but must come through on the court. They'll have 2 former top 10 recruits duking it out for the setter spot (or sharing it in a 6-2)...not a terrible debacle to be in.

Saw her many times before PSU!!! and just on the PSU games she was in (not too many here). I think that is plenty of times. Pelcj wants to argue with everyone. Don't worry about him. He always thinks he right. I've never heard him once say he's wrong Well he does like to get into Twitter fights with athletes.

The passing didn't help. Texas is lucky they have in my opinion the most athletic hitters in the country. Is Collins back she was sloppy last season,, whose in line to set for them?

They have dalton and Collins returning. Both capable setters. Dalton can play 6 rotations in a 6-2 while Collins would probably just get subbed when she comes in the front. If they went to a 5-1 my money is on dalton but we gotta see what jerrit wants

Team being over-looked here is Illinois. The Illini were destined for a Final 4, hosting the Regional before sidelined by rival Purdue. The Illini lost one starter and have added a transfer replacement. Illinois finishes in top 3 of Big Ten and will advance to the Final 4.

Sure they lose only one starter but it was from a team that wasn't Final Four caliber to begin with. I'm also not sure how they were "destined for a Final Four" last year, unless you count pure gifts by the seeding committee as "destined". They were gifted a seed based on their incredibly difficult preseason schedule NEVERMIND THE FACT THAT THEY ONLY WON 3 OF THEIR PRESEASON MATCHES, drew Marquette as the second round opponent and the top two seeds in the regional were overrated . Illinois has a leg up in the first half of the season both OOC and in conference because they don't start as far behind as some of the other big named programs who are breaking in new faces into the lineup, but by time December rolls around that advantage won't be there. I could see Illinois finishing in the top 4 in the Big 10, but, IMO come tournament time Illinois won't be among the top 4/5 teams in the country and only gets to the final four if they aren't put in a regional with PSU, Texas, Stanford, USC, Washington, and maybe Nebraska. (edit- Illinois won 4 preseason matches, who could forget that god awful call on matchpoint for ASU)

He should give it to whoever is better. If dalton is better, dalton should get it. If Collins is better, regardless of her size, she should get it. They're both amazing setters and in a 5-1 it will be a dog fight to see who gets the starting role

In the overall scheme of things I have no idea if I'm right just like u gave no idea that I'm wrong. It's all opinion ...based on zero facts. The rest of us try to make educated opinions based on data, evaluation, statistics, performance. Don't let logic get in your way though. this happens on VT? .... you've seen it? like with your own eyes? ...

Texas, Florida, USC, and Wisconsin.
The B1G and PAC schools will beat each other up all season; Texas and Florida will get top 4 national seeds.
Stanford hasn't made it to a Final Four since 2008; don't see how they are going to replace Carly Wopat's production. Penn State will be very talented, but depending on more than one true freshmen to produce in the starting lineup is a tough task; probably mental more than it is physical for them to play poised when it matters the most.
While several on here might not be impressed by what Baker did at Tennessee or what Prieto showed at PSU, I'm glad they landed at Texas; can't imagine how weak we'd be at the pins without them (undersized with Pilar and Neal, no doubt). Eckerman has one OH spot nailed down. The other OH spot is open, and Opposite spot(s) are far from determined.
