Every year there are new predictions for the conference which is fun to do. Each year there are programs that probably get drilled too much and others praised too much. 3 years ago it was MSU, last year it was OSU, Minn is already getting slammed for having a bad year and the season hasn't even begun. For perspective the 4 season average finish from 2009-2013 was:
PSU Nebraska Minnesota
Illinois Purdue Ohio State Michigan Michigan state Wisconsin Northwestern Indiana Iowa
The fact is that most of the B10 has strong years and weaker years because it is crazy competitive. 9th place is a top 20 team in the country, but they will get slammed for sucking in the Big10. Instead off ripping on a new coach every year, let's admire what rose, cook and hebert/hugh have done over time.

Oh, and I'm not sure what year you are looking at, but when has the 9th place Big 10 team been a top 20 team nationally?

This is literally the third B1G prediction thread. Thanks for counting for us. Personally, I don't know what we would do without you.

But for that matter, I could easily see Kadie or Carlini instead.

Where Illinois finishes is going to depend on how RUTHLESS Coach Hambly wants to be. It is not his nature to easily replace a starter from one year to the next. My belief is the RUTHLESS coaches such as Rose, Cook, and Sheffield are generally the more successful coaches. Coach Sheffield made the comment that his job as a coach and recruiter is to recruit players that can supplant the players that are currently on the roster. I believe Rose and Cook feel the same way. I very much respect all of these coaches. Their achievements speak for themselves.
However, Coach Hambly at Illinois appears to be a much different type of coach who tries to foster a different type of culture within his program. He seems to be reluctant to easily replace someone who started the previous season with a newcomer. This is good and bad for a program. Hambly's approach may make it easier for him with perhaps a happier bunch of girls, but I think it is harder to achieve ultimate success this way. My belief is that absolutely THE BEST PLAYER AT A POSITION SHOULD BE PLAYING. My belief is that a winning program (not necessarily a happy program) will be one that Rose, Cook, and Sheffield foster.

And don't get me wrong, I really like kadie and think she's amazing, but I don't think she will beat micha. She's just to great of an overall player. Especially if she can lead this new team to a b1g title or even second place, micha will get it. But kadie might have a Robinson season so who knows

Ruthless? If the definition of ruthless is playing the best players regardless of their class or what their role was last year, than the wussification of America is complete.

According to Daniel Webster ruthless means merciless or cruel. I find coaches that are honest with players are the opposite of ruthless.
