Only way to get a question answer is to start a thread? Do any of you find that players play all four years of really good volleyball? Do they have a sophomore year slump and come back and play better their junior year? Played well the first 2 years and by their senior year they are mediocre?

1999 was the very best in my humble opinion.

IMO it depends on the school, the player, the coach. Some coaches are better at taking players A-J, others are brilliant A-Z. Some coaches are amazing with freshman and sophomores, but lose the player as junior and seniors. Some players will change over the course of four years emotionally, physically, psychologically and probably all three. So depending on which change occurs, and when it occurs you could see dramatic peaks and valleys. Some schools - TRULY - encourage things like study abroad, or majors that require clinical rotations and internships that can take players away for a semester (hopefully spring, but have seen it at other times). Granted this may not be the "big boys", but that can impact a player's development. .....I also thought the Wonder Years were the best....

I found with my daughter that the sophomore year was the "hardest" because the newness of the college experience was not there as much and she knew how challenging the pre-season and off season would be. But that was also the team's most successful year as talent started to gel, etc. so it was the most rewarding!
