32 team draw!!
You going to attempt the seeding Klazk? or just wait a few more days...
Couple of young blockers I'd like to hear about Parker Kalmbach & Jace Olson if anyone gets the chance.

Seeds should be out tomorrow, so I think I'll just wait.

No Casey/Furby reunion to defend their title?

Not a single "old-timer" entered to give it a shot? Thought for sure we would see Fro/Ack, or someone like that, giving it a try!!! By the way, we are staying at the Crimson Hotel - how is it? And does Mike Dodd still own Fonz's? Been telling the wife about it for years, and she is finally coming with me (all the way from Indiana - ha!) to check it out!

Mike sold his interest in Fonz's years ago. Still serves some very good steak and seafood, though. The Crimson...well, it's in a good location for the price. Don't expect much else. Enjoy your trip, weather is supposed to be very nice - high 70's, bit of a breeze blowing off the ocean. Don't be fooled by AM cloud cover, it will burn off and get toasty in the afternoon. I'll be missing this one - on vacation in the Pacific Northwest this week (it's 101 in Portland today. WTF?) - but look forward to hearing some reports.

Portland... Geddy have you ever been to the Seaside tournament? Just played in it (as did Bride of GeddyLee). Kinda loosely organized, but fun.

Thanks, Geddy - have a great time on your trip - was surprised that only the Shade Hotel ($450/night) was within a short walk of the Pier, and all of the other hotels were at least a mile or so away - the other time we came out for the Manhattan Beach tourney, we stayed in Hermosa. Thanks for the info about Fonz's - the wife used to follow Patty Dodd and my buddies and I grew goatees to support Dodd/Whit at the '96 Olympics, so anything Dodd-related is a must see! I'll try to post some day-to-day recaps!

We stayed at The Crimson every year that my daughter was on the USAV HP Development Team. It's OK for the price (out-dated, nothing fancy, but clean). Staff was very nice. I liked the convenience since we were on a tight budget and always found parking/feeding the meter was a pain in Hermosa Beach. Here's what others had to say: www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g32678-d78133-Reviews-Crimson_Hotel-Manhattan_Beach_California.htmlI took the MTA bus (bus stop is right in front of the Crimson). To get to Hermosa, I got off at Pier Ave (The Hermosa Beach Community Center with the oh-so-quaint Volleyball Hall of Fame is on the corner and the grocery store), and walked down the hill. Not too bad walking back up after a long day (I'm a not-totally-in-shape 57 year old). Going down to Manhattan Beach, the terrain is steeper and the walk was more than I could handle (may also be a difficult bike ride as in-shape USAV gals have attested), so I opted to take the city bus the other direction, got off at Rosecrans(?) and then took the Beach Cities Transit to the practice courts. If you have the time, the Volleyball Hall of Fame is fun to check out (lots of cool info on-line as well): tinyurl.com/qhkbgc4

Awesome. He has to have played the most Manhattans of anyone (assuming you count qualifiers).
