West Allis Lightning announced today that they are disbanding their club effective immediately. This will leave one big hole for competitive boys teams in the Milwaukee area!

I think that hole will be filled with players going to MVC, the only other major club in that city. They and WAL have been competing and splitting age groups for years, should be interesting to see what happens if all major talent goes to one club. Could be a interesting and highly competitive.
WAL was a solid member of the vball world - good people and good teams. Job well done to those involved.
The world continues to turn. Crazy to see how clubs come and go over the years. Usually the turn over is always in California clubs, weird to see it with a MidWest group.

It will depend on the age group. For upcoming 18's, could be a dynamite group if the best of both clubs combine. Probably not the same for 17's and 16's. MVC had the upper hand for talent for upcoming 16's, whereas Lightning had significantly better talent for upcoming 17's.

There is nothing to work out, the club is done. Current teams are trying to figure out what to do for the upcoming season.

West Allis did great things over its 15 years, most specifically in the recent past. It is disappointing to hear and I hope a new club is started or a smaller one takes on many of these players. Having just one big club with all the guys at MVC is not going to be great for the area. Compeptition is needed.
It sounds like West Allis closed it's doors because it was too big and too much work. Understandable since club directors in our state do not get paid much to keep costs low, but why did they not have a 5 or 10-year business plan. This is a program that has made noise at the National stage ... I hate to point fingers but this is poor management and quite frankly, will only hurt the kids/area. Why wasn't anyone groomed to take over? Maybe get a paid position?
I'm confused.

The directors of the club announced earlier this week that they were shutting it down. Too much work for a small group of volunteers.

I also heard that. Know some girls that play for Sting and they said the team has already brought over some former Lightning coaches to coach the boys teams.

Milwaukee Sting website has formal announcement that they will offer boys program for 12's ~ 18's starting this year. It will ne interesting to see where the Lightning boys all go. MVC website had big posting within the last few days, making a push for the Lightning kids to join up with MVC!

MVC cannot be more thrilled right now. There toughest rival and the club that has been better than them (overall) the last 4-5 years is gone. The rich get richer ...

MVC cannot be more thrilled right now. There toughest rival and the club that has been better than them (overall) the last 4-5 years is gone. The rich get richer ... You're assuming that all the former Lightning players will automatically jump to MVC; not sure that will be the case. Pretty sure that this years 17's want to stay together, not sure that they would see any benefit from going to MVC. With Sting bringing on a lot of the former Lightning coaches, I believe you will see most of them end up there.
