Any predictions for Friday's match against Notre Dame? I know very little about their team. Any guesses on a starting setter for MN? 3-0 Minnesota win, starting lineup of... OH1- Daly OH2- Lyss S- Schau RS- Adri MB1- Brunette Twin MB2- Blond Twin Libero- Dalianliz MoBo gets some time at DS too. Pretty much the lineup I predict as well. Lol at "blonde twin" and "brunette twin." I feel like there are a number of other bench players who could see playing time at the drop of a hat, however. Hoping for that 3-0 sweep!

Hoping for that 3-0 sweep! Definitely! Not sure Wilhite plays because of her minor injury, but I could see Beal or Lohman getting some time as well. And for the record, I think Friday will be an easy go of it for the Gophers, but I think they'll get more of a challenge on Saturday. (Maybe a close 4 set match with Louisville or something)

I think we could see Jack at DS. She played great on Saturday. Absolutely agree. She is too good not to use. Even if she doesn't play this week, I would like to see her get some playing time.

I think people here are underestimating the range of possiblities for Minnesota this year. If UCLA can finish in 10th place in the PAC last season, then there is a plausible scenerio for Minnesota also finishing that low. There is also a plausible scenerio where they finish in the top 3. Way too much uncertainty with this kind of turnover and such a balanced conference. Penguin is right on the money. Too much uncertainty.

Oooh, I love the MoBo. Hadn't heard that one before. I hope someone comes up with a nickname for the new libero. Something one can yell mid-point please? So I saw a Rasmussen at the open practice but she's not on the roster on the website. What's the deal with that? Also, thoughts re Notre Dame? Someone will start that thread, right? I think I saw that ND's setter has MN ties, right? She's Trent Dilfer's daughter?

He beat the Vikings. Several times.
I've always liked their other setter.

Well that's a surprise -- but needed depth at OH.

Also, totally unrelated. Brittany Jack -- someone I like a lot -- is no longer with the team. Volleyball can be really hard to manage, financially and time-wise, for non-scholarship athletes. I -- and I'm sure all Gopher fans (including my daughters, whom she coached at camp) -- wish her the best.

Oh, I second that! Brittany is a very poised and friendly young woman. Is she transferring somewhere? I'll miss her! So is the Swiss athlete here? I don't remember seeing her at the practice. Just curious, how does that work? I'm sure she won't play this weekend but are there any restrictions on when she can play, or is it just at the coach's discretion? Just seems so last-minutey.

Minnesota adds a Swiss National Team player in the 11th hour. Hmmmm. Very interesting.

Minnesota adds a Swiss National Team player in the 11th hour. Hmmmm. Very interesting. Just the Junior National Team. Swiss volleyball isn't at that high of a level (the reason so many Americans get jobs in the Swiss League), if she were an AA type she probably would have played for the Senior Team. I'd be very surprised if this player was a difference-maker. She does seem a few years older than your average incoming freshman.
