After looking at the volleyball mag boys high school all american list I wanted to see if anyone else was surprised. From what I have seen I think that the AVCA All American list is generally a pretty good list and that every player on that list is deserving of all american awards. As for VolleyballMag, I am wondering what other people think about the accuracy of their list. I am from Ohio and I know personally for sure that Matthew Nortmann from Elder and Nick Talbot from St. Xavier have absolutely no business being on this list at all. These players were first team all state selections but the 2 ohio players of the year did not make the list, both who are much better players with much better stats than Talbot and Nortmann. Even then only Evan Feltz, the Ohio Division 2 player of the year, belongs on this list because an All State Selection from Ohio obviously isn't going to be as good as an all state selection from California, PA, VA, etc. Feltz was HP A1 with d1 players on his team including Colby Harriman, Mitch Penning, JT Hatch, Mitch Weiler, and many more, also getting recruited by Ohio State and Lewis. I also see that a lot of player are underrated on this last such as Mitch Weiler, Jake Walenga, Drew Pion, and Mike Simmons. As for overrated, Austin Royer, Josh Phalen, and as I said earlier Nick Talbot and Matthew Nortmann. Obviously all of these players are good, the list is just very inaccurate when we're talking all-american. Just seems like whoever comprised this list didn't look that much into it and is kind of an idiot, as he preceded to spell honorable mention wrong as well. I am not familiar with every player on the list, but what are your thoughts on the list as a whole?
