Wichita State seems to lose a lot, yet still the favorite.

Kind of surprised at how low Southern Illinois was picked. I see them as a surprise team.

kind of odd how WSU and UNI are the top two teams, yet neither gets a player on the preseason all-mvc. though I suppose it makes sense, as neither are returning their big-stats players from last season.

Does anyone think this conference has at-large possibilities?
I'm about 70/30 towards no they don't. It's not as cut-and-dried as Creighton leaving taking them away, but it did kind of have that effect. "Possibilities" is kind of a broad term, but I see a lot more scenarios for the season where they don't get any at-larges than ones where they do.

That possibility will always be there for conferences like the MVC who play decent OOC schedules. All they need is for a team to have a great pre-season, dominate the conference season and then lose in the conference tournament.

WSU and UNI are often in the running for at-large spots, though the likelihood might be slightly lower this year, as neither has as strong a returning team as they do in some years.
The conference does have some stinkers at the bottom, but some of the mid-level teams have been improving and a number of them had young squads that started to gel well towards the end of last season, so overall the conference might end up with decent OOC records and a few good wins.
I'd ballpark it at about 50/50 on an at-large spot going in, but the outlook could change quite a bit either way depending on how the early season goes.

Illinois State deserves props for their performance in the University of Oregon tourney in Eugene. Who would have thought that ISU from the Missouri Valley Conference would finish with a 2-1 record garnering second place in the tourney consisting of Central Arkansas (ISU wins 3-1), B1G Ohio State (ISU wins 3-2), and Oregon (ISU loses 2-3)?
Great job Coach Myers and Redbird players.
As a side note, I also want to give a shout out to fellow MVC member Southern Illinois. I watched SIU perform admirably against tough competition at the Illini Classic against North Carolina, Long Beach State, and Illinois. SIU was no walkover. The Salukis have some young players with huge promise.
