CSUF (Fullerton) starts 4 freshman 2 sophomores and 3 juniors. A freshman middle rotates with a freshman DS, both are starters right, same for the other positions. The other two freshman are outside and rt. In one rotation, Fullerton has FRESHMAN-FRESHMAN-FRESHMAN on the front row; and they are all stars! Fullerton went 2-1 winning 6 0f 10 sets. In 3 years maybe CPSLO and CSUF will be 1 and 2 in the league.
Welllllll... CSUF did indeed go 2-1. (Not sure how they start 9 players...) Using last year's RPI... they beat #261 Sacred Heart and #247 Bucknell, this past weekend. And they lost 3 straight to BIG 12's Texas Tech, which was ranked last in the conference preseason poll. Sooooo... not the strongest first weekend schedule.
I wish them well though... as it would make history if CP and Fullerton turned it around and wound up 1 and 2 in conference in 3 years. Let's see how CP and Fullerton does in conference play. I've got Jake's CP finishing ahead of CSUF... no matter what the line up.

I'm not sure how a 1-2 W-L record to start the season will turn heads.

Remember the five freshman starters just came off a high school campus 3 months ago. Played pretty damn well,... if you ask me.
Montana, Wyoming & Wash State played against what amounted to a high school roster,...dah.
GoPOLY!!!

Wow, you went from big expectations to making excuses pretty fast. No,...not really. I was a little surprised 5 of the 6 starters were true freshmen. And,...7 of the 11 players in the 3 matches were true freshmen. Things can only get better,...just need game experience. GoPOLY!!!

Jake, you're selling them short. It looks like 6 of the 8 players that got significant playing time this past weekend were true freshmen, so even more excus...reasons to be excited about the future of this team.
They face Utah and St. Mary's this weekend, so more head scr...shak...turning to be done.
Then they get Bakersfield, and then the San Jose State Unknowns/Internationals, so they should pick up a couple wins there.

A little home cooking,...CAL POLY's first sponsored tournament in a long, long time.
All NorCal teams,...San Jose State, CSU Bakersfield & Sac State.
Yes,...time to pick up some victories. Right now I think coach Crosson is just trying to find out his best line-up rotation for conference.
GoPOLY!!!

not anything to get excited over - they better go 3-0 this week - they needed to beat somebody at least.
Taylor Nelson is the real deal though. hard to believe she will not be the freshman of the year in the conference

Agree with Taylor Nelson's bid for Freshman of the Year honors. GoPOLY!!!
