The race for the 4th US Women's team is going to be interesting going into next year. FIVB Opens and NORCECAs this fall should play a big role.
Based on registered teams, it looks like Carico/DiCello should be the 4th team in Brazil in late September.
As of today, points are below. As a point of reference, Day/S. Ross have 900 a piece. So they really aren't that much in front of some of these. I've eliminated those with points only from U17, U19 and U21 championships.
H. Hughes 800
Hunkus 770
DiCello 770
Carico 760
Fopma 715
Hochevar 690
Pavlik 660
Engle 624
Daley 572
S. Day 533
Vanzwieten 518
Neilsen 360
Weamer 336
S. Hughes 336
Dykstra 126
Pardon 126
Ledoux 120
Hester 120
Claes 116
Burnham 98
Robinson 98
Hinkey 84
Stockman 84
Woolever 84
Larsen 84
Metter 84
Branagh 80
What actually is more interesting is points that will be available at the beginning of 2015. Some on the list are relying on using points from last year's Opens and NORCECA championships that won't be available at the beginning of next year. Adjusted for that the standings are:
Hunkus 770
DiCello 770
Fopma 715
H. Hughes 674
Pavlik 660
Engle 624
Vanzwieten 518
Daley 392
Hochevar 370
Carico 290
S. Hughes 196
Weamer 126
Dykstra 126
Pardon 126
Ledoux 120
Hester 120
Claes 116
S. Day 98
Woolever 84
Larsen 84
Metter 84
Branagh 80
Neilsen 0
Burnham 0
Robinson 0
Hinkey 0
Stockman 0
The biggest question at the beginning of 2015 may be who can convince Kessy to come back from maternity leave and use her points to get into a few events (maybe even an automatic main draw depending on how well Day/Ross do the rest of the year).
