It has been a while since Penn State has had an dominant MH like Cacciamani but perhaps Washington can bring back the memories. Lauren Cacciamani, one of the all time great Penn St. players who was a Middle blocker....... Cacciamani is definitely nominated for my WONDER WOMAN award.

I was really glad she was able to win that title in 99. All three of her previous seasons ended in totally heartbreaking matches even tho she played great each time.

I still cannot believe Penn State swept Stanford team led by Logan Tom and Kerri Walsh. I noticed that RR wasn't even wearing a blue sweater so now I wonder when that tradition started.

I remember I was shocked. I thought Stanford was going to destroy Penn State after how the Cardinal ripped apart the defending champs in the semis. Penn State outserved and passed Stanford. Practically all the Nittany Lion hitters were firing on all cylinders.

That makes sense. I wished I could have been there. Stanford had a great team that ran into a buzz-saw that day.

Washington doesn't have, and doesn't need the all around game that Cacciamani had. Also, PSU has had some very fine middles since 1999.

Thanks for sharing this info, I was curious what she was doing these days. PSU has had some fine middles but very few were six rotation elite payers, of course the game has changed. I am not convinced yet that Washington could not become a solid back row player like Deja was, though she certainly isn't there now.

I'll bet there are lots of middles that could be good backrow players that are never given the chance; stereotyped in the club system. Same thing for good OH that don't learn to pass. I blame club coaches hat play more to win (and build up their club image) than train their players, who are paying to learn.

Wouldn't be surprised if that happened given his mom's genetics.

I don't really want to bring it up because we have beat it to death in other threads.

Do you think Washington is possibly training to be a back row player? Have you watched her to determine that she "isn't there now"?
