Barnes, great guy and good coach. But he's only average on the Division I level at this point. I saw numerous Wyoming matches and he is slow to make adjustments and were never a threat to any MWC team in either year he was there. His recruiting class this past year was average at best. They hit some injuries this year to have a losing record, but last year's 20-win season was the result of powder-puff scheduling. Regardless, congratulations to him, as Baylor probably couldn't do any better. Baylor might put up a decent record in the first few years because of soft sceduling, but the Big 12 will be mean to them.

The Wyo team I saw was plagued by injuries and did very well considering the depth they had on the bench. I felt like Barnes got a lot out of every player on the court, something that is definitely not true of all MWC teams -- we've had our share of over-hyped, underperforming kids over the years.

How is Barnes with middles? I'd be interested to see how the 6-5 MB at Baylor does if she actually had the ball set to her...

Wha.. Baylor hires the Wayan Brothers??? Oh - never mind. Guess I should stop skimming things and actually read them. All I could picture was some "Scary Volleyball".

Any word on whether or not Barnes will retain either or both of the assistants; Jozsef Forman and Sarah McFarland? Didn't Forman bring the big middle with him from Hungary?

What you say is true, but even fully healthy and at full depth, Wyoming would've had maybe one or two more wins in the MWC -- maybe. Bottomline Barnes isn't a difference making coach, and he isn't alone as there are only a handful in the MWC.
