Bates does remind me of Dolgner in some ways. Both had springy jumps and fast arms. If she can be somewhere near that good, Bates has a big future.

Deme in at L1. Caroline serving. Bates has another monster kill. Then Dom pounds down an overpass to take set 2, 25-15.

So UW wins that set 25-15. Pretty impressive if sloppy in places.

Fr. DeBruler vs. Fr. Bates: discuss. Egad, the woman has taken a grand total of 15 swings as a college player and you're comparing her to DeBruler?

So what is Wisconsin doing that Minnesota didn't? How did ND take Minny to extra points last night and Wisco seems to be handling them easily?

Bates sounds like she is doing great. Cant wait to see. Badgers hit .385 that set. According to some, that is average at best.

Yeah. It was impressive. The sloppy play was confined to a couple of points. The Badgers just seem to have an attitude this year that they don't really get bothered or flustered by things going wrong. They move on to the next point and usually it's a positive outcome. The hitters all seem like they are hitting much harder than last year and Carlini's connections are really great. Chapman is thriving in this faster offense, Nelson is just pounding some balls over and around blocks and Thomas is hitting hard (and in!).
I've also been impressed by Morey - always seems to be near the ball and when she gets her hands on it, good things happen. I will probably jinx them, but it's been 5 sets so far this year and the Badgers have yet to be aced. Even if the passing isn't right on the net, you get it up high enough and Lauren can do something with it.
Lastly, I like how Sheffield is playing around with the lineup a bit. Bates in, Mikaelson in at the end of set 2... I assume he knows he could have a juggernaut of an offensive team this year and is playing with the pieces to find the right balance between offensive efficiency and defensive presence.

This is the badgers I remember. ND hitting under 100 in both sets. Some great ups at various points in that set. First set I felt Morey was being a little too passive, but she did great in that second. Had a great service run. We have 3-4 players with really good serves.
On top of that our offense is clicking really well. Hitting 333. This team could be very very good this year if they keep their concentration.
Bates is dynamic, something different from what we have.
