No, but they had 6 of 7 starters back, extended training with their trip to China, and 8k pro-husker fans at their back. They were clearly favored. Perhaps you're the only one who isn't cognizant of how powerful Stanford is this year. Am I also the only one of us who is cognizant of the fact that isn't the only match they lost this weekend? Do you think this thread is here because they lost to stanford? Or because Nebraska lost at home to an FSU team that lost Neff, Medic, Carmona and Elise Walch, and Green didn't play. They didn't go overseas, which everyone was so excited about Nebraska doing. And FSU usually plays before fewer than 1000 fans. And plays in the ACC instead of the Almighty Big 10. The two possibilities that would make the strongest statement where Nebraska's team stands at the moment were beating Stanford or losing to Florida State. Since only one of those things actually happened, THAT'S the one I'm talking about. Tip: You can't be snarky and stupid at the same time.

The Huskers definitely have a lot of work to do. I watched the Stanford match and they really did not compete well. Yes, I know Stanford is probably the best team in the country right now, but I would have expected Nebraska to have a better showing in front of their huge hometown crowd, especially against FSU. The 5 starters from last season have got to step up their game. Wasn't too impressed with Pollmiller. I focused on Haggerty for awhile and noticed how slow she was closing the block and sometimes totally got caught going the wrong way. 0.57 blocks/set is not acceptable for an MB1. Looks like Katie R. is hitting .000 for the season so far. Might be a long season for Coach Cook. Just curious, does he ever sit down on the bench?

yes, mpls, I feel the same bout blocking. Huskers right now cannot block, several times there was only one blocker or block wasn't closed. This is definitely a weakness that Coach Cook has to be thinking about. Plus a lot of other things. I remember people saying last year, what would this team be like without Kelsey. Well, now we know.

One of the things that I think has had a huge impact on their blocking, is their inability to be disruptive with the serve. Serve creates block opportunities. If hitters are getting a lot of 1 on 1s and split blocks, you need to address how you are serving. one of the things that I found interesting in the Stanford match, is that they didn't block very many balls either.
