...in football. It was on a Sports Illustrated commercials, as selected by the AP. I think they are giving a finger to the BCS. It's like they are trying to start a fight. Imagine that.

I think USC should be number 1.

I think USC should be number 1. U$C is the clear No. 1. The scary thing about SC football is most of the top players are soph's or freshman. They will be very good for a long time. National champs in football and WVB, they have it going on. ;D ;D

O.J. Simpson won the Heisman at USC. Except for his one gigantic character flaw (that of a remorseless murderer), I actually liked The Juice. He had lots of complimentary things to say about the people he grew up with and he's very personable.
Oh, um, any boy's club team and many decent high school teams could beat the USC women's volleyball team. Let's all appreciate how good this USC team is, but it's a whole nuther ballgame when you bring up boys and men into the equation.

Oops, it looks like I have this thread mixed up with another thread -- women vs. men, or something like that.

I think USC should be number 1. The only reasons USC finished ahead of LSU in the AP poll is because 1) they finished better last year and therefore started the season ranked higher, and 2) they lost earlier in the season (week 4 as opposed to week 6). I realize I am an odd one, but I don't think the national champ should be the result of preseason expectations and whether a game is in the 4th or 6th week (you want to make an argument about later games having more meaning, I won't argue as much, but for these were in the first half of the season). My bigger issue is that the national champ is influenced by preseason expectations.

SC was very good and had a great year, but to say they are a clear #1 is ridiculous. I'd love to have seen USC and LSU play, that should've been the Sugar Bowl, but you are not giving enough credit to LSU at all.

OU should have been bumped out of the championship game and this all could have been settled. Oklahoma was the top team in the BCS standings and the top team in the Country for 15 weeks prior to their defeat to Kansas State in the Big 12 title game. I think the Sooners knew they'd play for the National title regardless of the outcome of their game with Kansas State. Unfortunately, one team was going to get left out of the "Title game". A National Title game between the top 2 ranked teams in the BCS rankings is all that we have untill at least a four team playoff to determine the National Champion is establised, and according to the BCS rankings, Oklahoma and LSU played for the National Title. USC could have saved themselves the trouble by beating CAL. I don't like the BCS but it's all we have untill wiser heads prevail. Personally, I think both LSU and Oklahoma would beat USC in a head to head matchup. I still give USC credit for sucking it up and beating a good Wolverine Football team in the Rose bowl. They did all they could to to solidify their AP title. Although it would've been more classy if Coach Carroll waited untill after the Sugar Bowl to declare his team the National Champions, regardless of whether or not he knew the AP writers would vote his team number 1. Pete Carroll is a worse complainer than "complaining" Dave Rubio. ;D Kudos to Norm Chow, he'll be a head coach somewhere soon.

Pete Carroll has been a class act his entire time at USC. Even after it was announced that SC would not be playing in the Sugar Bowl, he said that he was quite proud that his team is playing in the Rose Bowl. As far as announcing his team National Champions in front of the partisan SC crowd, gee that's a big shocker. I'm sure LSU had been calling themselves National Champs after they won their bowl game. What's the big deal? I don't see why SC can't do the same. Anyhow, even players like Mike Williams admitted that SC didn't take care of business on their own end by losing to Cal. But I think the BCS system really discounts OU getting absolutely stomped by KSU at the end of the season. I think the good thing that will come out of this co-National Championship will be a re-evaluation to the system.
