I was at a few of the USD matches this weekend and it looked like to me like the Graduate Assistant, Michael Runde, was the one involved with running the team, calling the timeouts and running the timeouts. In NCAA Women's rules, any coach on the bench may call a timeout, request a sub, etc. Other rule sets restrict this to the head coach.

Kuddos to him being a young 23 year old coach and stepping up while their head coach is unable to travel. Also, it was awesome to see some Nebraska kids do some great things at Creighton this weekend! Well that's the way I saw it also. I guess I should trust my eyes and what I was told by a Coyote fan who was there as opposed to someone who was not.

do they still play their home matches in their football arena? Yep. I think it's pretty cool and unique even if it isn't an ideal situation! Always rooting for the Yotes due to the big MN connection. Jessen, Dimke, Law, etc. They do, but they have started construction on a new building that will be the new home for volleyball.

To which CU are you referring? Yeah hadn't looked at it that way. The one that went 0-3.

Looks can be deceiving. It's impossible for us as fans to know what is going on behind the scenes with a team. We don't have enough information to decide who is running the team or not. The truth is the USD CoYotes have won some big matches, even without their head coach. Let's just give credit to both the coaches in attendance and the players for staying focused. Unless one of you is on the coaching staff you don't know how the team was run. It's silly to try and take credit away from anyone when there are only two coaches on the bench. They BOTH did a great job of preparing and managing the team. Let's also give credit to the head coach for making two great hires.
