I was surprised not to see Morales in her usual position in the Wisconsin-PSU match. She was the key ingredient last year in the title run. She was a 2013 NCAA Championship All-Tournament and 2013 NCAA Regional All- Tournament as an outside hitter. She had that enthusiasm level that energizes a team. BIG BIG mistake taking her out as OH.

Not sure you think undersized Morales would be effective as an OH when you are so down on Carlini as a setter.

After watching her play in the NCAA tourney last year, I thought she was the best player on the Wisconsin team. You do not get selected to the ALL TOURNEY FINAL AND REGIONAL TEAMS for being average. Undersized or not, she had the biggest heart on the team and brought an enthusiasm that made Wisconsin special last year.
It is not that I am down on Carlini, but it is shame that often not enough credit is given to the players who are the real contributors. Once people get in their heads CARLINI, CARLIN, CARLINI, they lose sight of the kind of player that MORALES is.
Just so you know, I am not a Wisconsin fan...but I sure am a MORALES fan after watching her last year.

By the way.....MORALES averaged 2.78 kills per set last year(2nd on the team).....Bates not so much.....(4th on the team). While it was a BIG ADVANTAGE FOR PSU not to have her as OH, I think she is getting screwed over. Go watch the WISC-TEXAS match last year and then let me know who you think was the difference maker.

If Wisconsin wants to be BETTER than last year, then they need to move MORALES back to OH.

Why then did she make the NCAA ALL TOURNEMENT TEAM? Explain please......everytime Wisconsin needed a big point, she delivered...... SECOND ON THE TEAM IN KILLS LAST YEAR....20 KILLS against PURDUE in the REGIONAL FINAL....she was the kind of player that stepped up when the team needed a lift.
2013 NCAA ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM 2013 NCAA ALL-REGIONAL TEAM
ENOUGH SAID.......People watching the matches, knew she brought something special to the court.

I guess you would rather have BATES who hit a whopping .077 against PSU.....maybe that .182 would have made the match more competitive with key points and fired up the team......

People love to rely on stats alone but anyone who knows the game knows volleyball is a game of rhythm and chemistry. There are many things players can add to the game without it showing up in the stats book. The OH position, depending on the wisdom of the setter of course, job is to put the ball away but it is also the player that receives almost ALL the out of system balls which works against percentages. If she's keeping it in play she's doing her job,and if she brings a spark she should be on the court. Stats never show the whole picture .

Maybe you have it figured out. Write to Coach Sheffield and tell him what he's missing. I'm pretty sure he's the one who decided to change her role. I also know that he watched all the matches you mention and that he's also evaluated the competition in practice. Let him know what he's missing.

Coaches don't want someone else telling them how to do their job. He needs to figure it out on his own. Better team chemistry last year with Morales. KABVB made some great points.

Did you ignore the fact I just said morales hit .024 against texas. Bates had a rough match. Not like morales would of done any better. Sheffield is doing amazing things with the Badgers, and the fact you think you know more than him is laughable
