Gonzaga's two losses this weekend, both five-setters at home, really hurt their chances of making the tournament (and yes, I'm saying that with a straight face).

LMU playing tonight at BYU without best OH DeWitt. Santa Clara playing tonight at St. Mary's without starting setter, Mead. Tough times in the WCC.

Trivia Question: Which WCC team(s) have the most wins against ranked teams this season? why I despise having no context about 'wins against ranked teams' you beat a ranked team when they are overrated, and they drop out after - is that a ranked or good win? you beat a team without someone, and they aren't ranked, then they get the player back and end up ranked beating LMU (or losing to them) earlier until they lost DeWitt is a quality match. now, it's altogether different UCLA's loss to LMU could end up looking like a 'bad loss' if LMU continues to lose, but the reality is far from that

Considering "ranked" top 25 teams, if my research is correct: Surprisingly, Santa Clara has 3 wins: #20 Duke, #24 San Diego, #24 LMU. (Loss to #1 Stanford and #9 BYU)
San Diego has a win over #9 BYU (losses to #22 LMU, #1 Stanford) LMU has a win over #23 USD (loss to #12 BYU) Pacific has a win over #21 LMU (losses to #5 USC, #10 BYU)
And more surprisingly, BYU has no wins over ranked teams, (losses to #5 UW and #14 Colorado State)

I found it surprising that BYU had not beaten any "then-ranked" opponents. They did likely push San Diego back up into the rankings with their road loss at San Diego, however.

Guess for today; San Diego over LMU (how long LMU star OH out?) BYU buries Pepperdine UOP over Santa Clara Go zags over Portland USF over St. Mary's
Still unsure at what level I should start to get outraged about WCC teams not getting invites.

Santa Clara still playing without their setter (concussion). So it will be hard for them to beat Pacific at Pacific, though they swept Pacific at home. I agree with all of those predictions.

The loss of a setter is probably a bigger impact to some teams than the loss of a single hitter. Ugly loss for Santa Clara. LMU also had an ugly loss against San Diego with all 3 LMU outsides hitting negative (including Sponcil). Keil and Mirabello played well.
