It still amazes me that Serbia, Russia, Turkey, Brazil and USA are in the same group... I feel bad for the team that won't make it to the next round from this group.

USA will qualify. The only way they won't is if they lose both their matches 3-0 or 3-1, Russia beats Brazil 3-0/3-1, AND Russia beats Serbia 3-2. Extremely unlikely. USA has already qualified for the Final Round of six teams. Even in your scenario above in which USA, RUS and SRB would all be 5-2 with 15 points, the next tiebreaker would be set ratio and USA holds that tiebreaker over Russia. italy2014.fivb.org/en/news/six-other-teams-looking-to-join-usa?id=49923

Not bad, but definitely need to win the group to avoid a semi v Brazil.
I think we will match up well against Italy. Russia again could be dangerous. Gamova and Goncharova appear to be closer to playing their level as the tourney goes on.

Round 3 draw: Pool G Italy USA Russia Poll H Brazil China DOM Seems pretty fair. Would have been better to face China and DR but oh well. Hope the US can pull off a couple wins and not have to face Brazil in the semis. Well, firstly I hope we qualify.

But the problem is being 1st in this pool. Cause 100% sure Brazil will overcome China and Dom easily.

I kinda want Russia to take em out in the semis but would also like the US to start beating the South Americans. Beating Russia a 2nd time will be tough. I think if we do even better in serve pass than in round 1 then we'll be okay.

USA and China have to play back to back matches, not so fair.

USA and China have to play back to back matches, not so fair. The advantage of being the top seed is a day of rest in between. That's fair imo.

Russia and DR will be playing back-to-back as well. So it's fair that the #1 seed in each pool gets the rest day.

This actually isn't a bad schedule for the USA. Also note the SF-F are played back-to-back (no days off) after this, so if we advance we get a rest day before SFs that BRA/ITA/RUS would not.

Brazilians complained about this pool. They want to face USA and Russia, it was their chance of getting rid of Russia. For example if USA gets 1st in this pool will face China, a pretty easy match for USA. Meanwhile Brazil will have to beat Russians.

From comments it seems the Italians are getting a lift from their crowds and big breaks from the refs. So the first match won't be that easy, then a match the next day against a well-rested Russian team. However, that's what we get for resting v. Brazil, and the draw could have been worse. Not sure how, but it seems the thing to say. I guess both Russia and US could have been in the Brazilian bracket.
US victory v. Russia was by a slim margin, so that could be really close. Karch's gambles of resting players may pay off here eventually. However, the prospect of having to beat the Russians three times is daunting.

All three teams (Brazil, US, Russia) advanced from the same pool so i dont think theyd group them together in Round 3.
