They beat WSU in four and have gone to 6-2 many times with Consani and Lowe starting and Moenoa and Carmona subbing.
Consani's setting Lowe and the middles way too low still, but hopefully Sealy will correct her on this soon.
Carmona looks to be a very solid opposite but still think 5-1 with Moenoa and Lowe is the best option. Was only Moenoa's second match back and I saw about two errors total and Consani had at least five just with Lowe alone.
Buechler had outstanding showing, career high kills, hoping she continues on this path.

I was kinda hoping that he'd let Moenoa take a medical redshirt this year but alas it is for the better to at least have her to sub in whenever Consani starts messing up, because the other two setters (Robbins and Leonard) don't look as solid.
Carmona has a nice swing on the right side. I'd maybe like to see her play on the left side some, considering both of the outside hitters play only front row (well sometimes for Buechler). Strantzali has shown she can be dominate in matches but is a bit too error prone. If Lawless still isn't in top shape, then Carmona could hit from the left side and just not pass in serve receive. That's what UCLA did with Kidder/Love a couple years back. However Reeves/Gera/Todorovic were probably better for doing a 2 man serve receive than Formico/Drolson/Inouye are.

Sealy: Uh, Consani-dear. I just found out on Volley Talk that you're setting the middles way too low. Still. Could you correct that please? OK. Thanks.

Oh and I wish Consani would utilize the middles more, especially Felix who is great on the slide. Too many bad connections

Blocking and defense are very weak this season. Hopefully the 2015 class has a stud MB and Libero !!!

Lowe's the best American opposite in the world right now besides Hooker so it should be common sense to keep her in all the time. We haven't seen whether her "fatigue" is really her own or from bad sets. I mean who wouldn't look tired on the court from the fourth set on when you're not getting hittable balls? I'm sure if Carmona had passing capability Sealy would've already had her as L1. Mid-season probably isn't a good time to make her the serving target and as you said as good as the back row defense is this year (dunno what buzzard's on about) two man receive's too much pressure for shorter passers. Buechler looks a lot better than Lawless did last year, don't think she's a contender anymore.

Blocking and defense are very weak this season. Hopefully the 2015 class has a stud MB and Libero !!! UCLA's defense is actually not bad. UCLA is outdigging most of their opponents this season. I looked at their 4 losses this season. UCLA outdug Washington 59-45, outdug Arizona 46-32, tied LMU with 40 digs each, and was outdug but Penn State by 1 (34-33). I'm pretty sure it's not the defense to blame this season.

Digging is not what I'm talking about - it's the horrible serve/receive that this team possesses and granted the setter spot is not so hot but she is chasing bad passes all match long.

UCLA's serve/receive has been good for the most part. They'll make a few errors, but for the most part, it's not something they need to worry about. Weren't you the one talking about how bad Formico is/was in the UW match? Somebody brought it up and my apologies if it wasn't you.

I felt the UW Libero outplayed the UCLA Libero - digging was close but the serve/receive was much better on the UW side. The UCLA Libero is getting a ton of love because the Libero last year was pretty bad so how can she go wrong? There is over 200 D1 Libero's with more digs and with a average serve/receive at best maybe it's time to recruit a real stud like they had two years back. This team is also getting poor middle blocker play and the setter is below average so this year may start going south faster than north.

UCLA serve/receiveve has been some of the best I have seen so far. Unfortunately, I don't believe Consani has the ability to run that offense. She is just to inconsistent. The only reason I think she is doing so well is Karsta is an absolute workhorse and she gets dimes all game long. It is hard to set bad when you have Karsta behind you and perfect passes the whole game. The combination of Formico, Drolson and Inouye is deadly. All three of those girls have been top-tier and it looks like they almost pass a 2 man serve receive sometimes and in the Pac-12 that is pretty impressive. I definitely think Sealy needs to put Moenoa in and run a 5-1 just because she is a more diverse setter and has great location. She just seems to run a better offense. Moenoa is the answer to UCLA's climb to the top. Right now they are a good team with weapons, but with Moenoa at setter they turn into a tournament contender easily. With the way they dig and serve/recieve and stay in system, plus Karsta who is debatably the best oppo in the nation. Moenoa turns that team into a force to be reckon with.

Sorry, I watched the match and I didn't think Strickland's serve receive was better or as good as Formico's. Also, from reading the posts on VT, UW fans were frustrated with Strickland for a while. UCLA has their libero in Formico and she will be around for a few more years.
