Illinois students wore red shirts over their Illinois shirts and sat in the NU student section. Once the match started they removed their red shirts and began cheering for their team. They were promptly evicted from their seats and sent to the standing room only section.
Not sure how I feel about that.

25-23 Illini. Pollmiller's sets on the slide that I saw were not pretty to watch.

Not sure how I feel about that. Did they pay for their tickets? If they did, throwing them out is bush league. If they had to be Nebraska students to sit there, it is the box office's responsibility to check eligibility. That being said, it is definitely a Nebraska kind of thing to do... just like imploring the crowd to scream when the Huskers were down 24-22. When the Stanford PA announcer solicits interference with play, the audience usually ignores him. We are good sports, even if he's not.

They paid for their ticket, they should be able to sit their. But there might be a different reason

I'm surprised the ushers let them sit there without a wristband that are given to UNL students with an Ncard at the gate.

You have to have a student ID and they put wristbands on students who have student tickets to sit in the student section. If they didn't have the wristbands, which they couldn't unless they had a student ID, then anyone would be kicked out. Just how it has been since the move to Devaney. Nebraska is on fall break so I'm sure there are some empty student seating, but there have been rules in place. You can sneak down there pretty easily if you try.

If the Illinois students had phony wristbands, they'd deserve to be ejected, not just sent to standing room: that would mean they either didn't pay for their tickets or, if they paid as if they were UNL students, they'd be cheating.
My guess is that they paid for standing room and they tried to sit in the wrong section. Escorting them to the area they paid for would be appropriate even if they were UNL fans.
