Kind of interesting how close Stanford and Texas are in total points (1495 to 1429) yet so far apart in 1st place votes (Stanford 55; Texas 4).
Given how close the Stanford vs. PSU match was (and PSU is ranked 7th with 3 losses and 0 1st place votes) I'm not sure why voters are comfortable declaring Stanford so superior to Texas.

Because they did last week. Inertia plus confirmation bias.

Arizona struggles to win a 4-set match at home against WSU (no wins in conference)and loses to home against Washington, but moves up one rank in the poll.

14 teams in the top 25 are from the Big 10 and the Pac 10, 7 each. This may well be 'right' whatever that means, but it makes it hard for other conferences to crack the top 25 now. It also likely means that 12 to 14 of the at large bids will be coming from those 2 conferences. Colorado is 26 and Michigan is 31. It's not much space for at larges from anywhere else. 22 of the 25 ranked teams are from BCS conferences.

Washington is actually closer to Texas (38 points) than Texas is to Stanford (67 votes). That tells me quite a few voters have Washington at #2 and Texas at #3.

Kentucky dropped four spots after losing to LSU. Since nobody from below the top 16 jumped enough to make it in, Arizona moves up to make Kentucky 16th. Nobody was moving Arizona based on their weekend. They finished as expected, and remained about where they were the week before. Nothing shocking there.

Beating WSU didn't help them and losing to UW didn't hurt them. They moved up one due to Kentucky falling from #12 to #16 (due to losing at home in five to LSU). LSU had a good showing in the Seattle subregional last year, beating Michigan and giving UW a tussle. They came back from down 0-2 on Kentucky's floor (22-25, 15-25, 26-24, 25-9, 16-14), to add to the indignity.

Congrats to Long Beach State! The Beach debuts at #23 in the nation after a 2 year absence.

Impressed with Pitt receiving votes and being 17-2. Not sure how good the ACC is yet, but they took UNC to 5 sets and play FSU on Friday. They've come a long way

MN hangs on for dear life to a poll spot. But, do they STILL hang on if they split next week as expected. Would a loss to Nebraska have to be a "good" loss, or can they get swept (like they did twice this week) and hang in they beat Iowa. Of course, all of this is assuming they lose to Nebraska and beat Iowa, neither of which is a given.

Well, one would have thought that losing to Wisconsin would be a good loss too, yet that dropped Minnesota Based on the rankings it's a good loss, at least not a bad loss. But, by "good" loss I was referring more to possibly winning a set or at least having more of the sets be close. Really only the third set of the first match was particularly competitive
