Too early to say for sure about USC getting a seed. They have played a very tough schedule, but at some point you need to win against a seeded team or two, not just play against them. USC beat Kentucky, which could be a win against a seeded team. In fact, if it came down to USC or Kentucky getting a seed, that might be the deciding factor.
But really USC needs to beat Washington, Stanford, or Oregon. Maybe beating Arizona and/or UCLA would be enough.

USC is surely one of those programs that a seeded team does NOT want to see in their subregional. They are kind of inconsistent now, but only have room to grow, and if Nwanebu finds her groove, and they steady out the setting, this team will be a tough out. I hope they get sent away to knock off a big 10 powerhouse...I'm looking at you Illinois or Nebraska Mick finally is realizing that no matter how hyped Gillis was coming out of HS, she's not ready for college right now (which is ok). USC has a pretty reasonable chance at getting seeded. If they go unseeded it will be the 1st time in the Mick Haley era they do not host a 1st round at home.

They have a strong SOS, but a very weak win loss ratio against teams in the top 25 RPI (currently 1). They have 6 remaining matches against Stanford/Washington/Arizona/UCLA/Oregon. IMO They need to win at least 3 of them to feel confident in getting a seed. It would help even more if one or more of those wins came against Stanford or Washington.

I'd imagine they'd head to BYU or one of the Florida schools if unseeded, but I also wouldn't put it past them to pull out a seed. They're playing better and 11-9 or 12-8 could do it with their schedule. I think Colorado is within driving distance of BYU, so they'd be the Pac-12 rep there. Surely Utah would be if they make the tournament.

Actually, I just got really worried BYU isn't going to be seeded. They're gonna finish the season with no Top 25 wins, and 3, maybe 4, Top 50 wins. That will not cut it over a K State, UCLA, or even USC type. And I'm really, really worried because an unseeded BYU has a high likelihood of going to Eugene.

I'd pick Colorado over CSU I'd take that bet. One, CSU is good. Two, they're even better in Fort Collins (Washington fans ought to know). Three, Colorado isn't great on the road. CSU beats CU 7 times out of 10 under that scenario. An unseeded BYU should scare the crap out of potential hosts. Nobody wants to see Hamson, Gray, and those middles walking into their gym (although BYU's setters? Not so much).

According to her CSU bio she has a black belt in karate.

Having a healthy Nwanebu and a more consistent outside in Ruddins is going to do wonders for USC. They may not wind up being a top 4 team as projected in preseason, but they seem much more comfortable in the 5-2 lineup than they did in their variety of 6-2s. Having Nwanebu and Bricio in for 6 rotations gives USC two lethal hitters in all rotations. I also like the decision to go with Young/Pizzasegola. Young does a serviceable job as setter and has the ability to be effective on 2. She also brings great energy to her teammates. I've never been impressed with Crone at USC, I don't see how she was a highly recruited setter based on her performance at USC but I'm guessing she'd look pretty darn good if she were in an offense that ran faster tempos. Ruddins getting healthy is huge for SC, she can pass and swing at a higher level than Gillis. USC might not be seeded, but I think if they continue to improve and if Nwanebu returns to last season's form, USC will be a team no one wants to see in their regional.

If they are play at Fort Collins CSU wins this match almost always it could be close but I would definitely have CSU winning this match up.
