Texas A&M did it again, even though it was not a big upset by PTW standard. Publius should put all TAMU and Arizona State matches in the contest from now on just to mess everybody up .

Well, next week's contest will have 3 of the 4 games TAMU and ASU play--only skipping the TAMU at Missouri game. Hmmm, maybe I should reconsider...

Wait, I won? Awesome. I'm assuming the check is in the mail.... We should have used Pony Express instead of regular mail for your check. Hope you can afford to wait about 30 years, or so .

How many total entrants have picked every week? For the first 10 weeks: 130, 122, 110, 109, 98, 93, 95, 89, 87, 48 (and counting), representing a total of 161 different participants so far, including a newcomer this week. 79 have entered 7 or more weeks.

So being tied for 12th isn't all that special...
Like winning the lavender bracket.

So being tied for 12th isn't all that special... Like winning the lavender bracket. "lavender bracket"? That flew right over my head. To me tied for 12th in PTW after 9 weeks (with a 74.8% success rate) is mighty impressive. What sports better wouldn't take that rate? Look at it another way, though there were 300+ in WVB D1, probably less than 50 get ranked in each season. So a 12th ranked team can look at themselves as 12/50, or 12/300+. If your glass is "half-full" ... Now how many VT members are there ? And how many are too intimidated to try PTW? So too bad then that PTW does not have a larger group of participants, especially after some drop-outs (hopefully less drop-outs next season now that the late entry "secret" is out). What is here however, is a very knowledgeable group who have the confidence and efficiency to pick 25-30 matches a week, which means having to know at least a bit about 50-60 teams! So not only are you in elite company, you are among the upper echelon of that company. But watch out, many below are aiming for your spot or higher! We wish more VTers on the sideline would participate, at least for a week here and there. Honest though, that's almost too much to ask. I know how much time I spent each week analyzing when I was participating and trying to claim the bragging right. By the way, I won PTW 2012 with 71.9% -- which wouldn't even get me on the leader board today. Tough, tough company! Apologize for the long post.

Since I'm just below rockhopper in points, I will explain the Lavender bracket.... in the crazy world of youth sports where "everyone's a winner", many volleyball tournaments name winners of all brackets, starting with Gold, Silver, Bronze, of course. By the time you get down to the "lavender" or "evergreen" or some such bracket, you have earned bragging rights for being something like 112th out of 150 teams!

Now I am convinced lavender bracket is nothing close to any PTW ranking .

So being tied for 12th isn't all that special... Like winning the lavender bracket. Hey, at least you guys are on the "leading cumulative scores" board. I'm somewhere in the Keeps-Entry-Numbers-Up-So-Winners-Are-More-Impressive crowd. That might net me a celadon ribbon. Or maybe just a pat on the head for my participation.
