Nicholls State University is looking for a Graduate Assistant for this season. Without stealing anyone's thunder our GA took a full time position last week. The position covers tuition and has a monthly stipend with camp and private lesson funds available as well. Typically our GA's have either been working on an MBA or an Education Masters.
Please direct inquires to Head Coach Tommy Harold, tommy.harold@nicholls.edu

Did IUP ever get around to hiring a coach? Yes. Although, if you look at the website you would never know it. They still have the previous coach listed.

That's going to be pretty rough. Ouch..Federal Poverty line is $23,000. In DC it is $33,000. I guess you would qualify for food subsidies?

Lot of movement still in the D2 world in the Southeast. Belmont Abbey is still open, and rumor is that the Brevard coach just quit (they are moving to D3 in a couple of years). Also hearing some rumblings about different assistant positions opening up in the SAC (D2). Any one have further info? What a crazy situation Brevard is. They moved to D2 in 2006(?) and during the transition, the President fires their A.D. after the A.D. walked out on a meeting with the President over scholarship money. And what, nine years later (?) they are going to change again to D3? Talk about an athletic department with a volatile history.

While it maybe crazy and unfortunate, I am not sure it is that unique anymore. Birmingham Southern went through something similar going from NAIA to DI, back to DIII. Several schools in the last two years have closed their doors. Over 500 colleges were dinged by the Dept of Ed for fiscal concerns earlier this year. So Brevard making the decision to leave DII for DIII does make some financial sense. It's like the line from the movie Moneyball, "I'm asking you to be okay not spending money that I don't have"...
