Who are the favorites for the U17 this year?
Looks like there has been some changes from 16s.

I heard the Pali 16 team that finished second at the scva national qualifier last year and who were one of the top Southern California teams in 16s at at 15s and 14s the years before disbanded. Where did the players go?
The all tournament outside hitter for 949 16 team that won 16s at nationals last year switched to Balboa 17s. Another outside and a setter on the 949 16s are not on the 949 17 team this year. I thought depth was a key factor in 949 16 winning at nationals last year. They will not have that depth this year. And a middle is out with an injury.
I would guess without knowing where other players moved and such that Scvc 17 and balboa 17 will be the teams to beat this year.

Kevin Jones has taken over as coach and with the help of Michael Albis this team stands a good chance of placing high at the 2015 BJNCs. They have added two players to support the returning middle. This should shore up the weak point from last season. The primary hitters are back as well as their setter. They are older, stronger and very athletic. Looks to be a good season.

Not familiar with that name, but I know that Kevin Jones has had some great teams over the past few years.

Michael is a protege of Jones. He played on the Seven Cities 17 club team for Kevin on the 18s team at Coastal two seasons ago. Michael was the libero. Last season he was an assistant coach for this same group of guys. Michael sees through the net, knows how to correct issues on the fly and when his players need to make an adjustment. Much like Kevin. He was unable to make the trip to Nationals with this team, a reason I think as to why they had a hard time adjusting to some teams. Keep your ears open I beleive you will hear a lot more about him in the future.

Somewhat familiar with the East Coast teams, so Coastal, NVVA, and Victor who finished top 5 last year could give look to make a run this year.

Sports Performance program will not have a 17-1 team this season. They will have 6 18s teams and 2 17s (training teams). All the kids that were on 16 Mizuno are on the 18-1 and 18-2 teams. The new director has restructured the program.

Bones 17s defeated Highline 18s last weekend. There opposite and setter are very good. I also heard that the setter is only a freshmen.

I know their girls program has done this for numerous years. They have developed some elite players and I hope they can do the same on the guys side.
