Gonzaga, Pacific, and Santa Clara are all underrated.
Even San Diego is looking better too, they stuggled early.

WCC teams beat up on eachother.. the only real disappointments are Pepperdine, Saint Mary's, and Portland. But even then, to me Portland has looked better than years past, things will get better over there. Pepperdine and Saint Mary's should be able to recover their programs, being successful in the past.

After seeing BYU play several times this year, I have to stay congrats to Santa Clara.

How did BYU only get 28 kills in 3 games? It says that their setter only played in 1 set and had 9 assists. Anybody have any idea what happened?? Did she get hurt?

Is there a reason Pepperdine is struggling so badly this year? They have some players who were rated very high on prepvolleyball seniors on their roster like Cash, Okoro, Bergeson, Strehlow the UCLA setter who transferred. I would think with that kind of talent they would be having a much better season.

BYU started with Willardson but they were struggling and she kept getting nailed by hits down the line. Midway through set 2 they switched to freshman Alohi Robbins-Hardy and she set the rest of the match. No one injured.

They had a second setter Robins-Hardy play as well and she had 10 assists. I only watched about half the third set and BYU got about 6 of their points from hitting errors on Santa Clara. They really struggled with serve receive in the half set I watched so they seemed to be OOS most of the time and setter was bump setting majority of time.

SCU is one of the toughest serving teams in the country, but I have no idea why BYU struggled so much on serve receive tonight. Santa Clara had 12 aces starting with the first serve of the match, and BYU just looked scared from that point onward. When these two teams met in Provo, it was the Broncos who couldn't serve receive and BYU who made no errors.

Great to see Santa Clara competing so well after a few years of struggling. Looks like this year's freshman setter has made an impact for them.

Great to see Santa Clara competing so well after a few years of struggling. Looks like this year's freshman setter has made an impact for them. It's kind of ironic seeing BYU struggle tonight, that when Santa Clara played at BYU a few weeks ago, the BYU TV team talked a lot about how much BYU's coaches liked Santa Clara's setter and had tried to recruit her. Their two Santa Clara OH's are both sophomores who started all matches last year as freshmen and continue to get better. Often one or both of them are playing fantastic. The middles are both freshmen and usually hitting well. They should be good in the years ahead.
