Third set, thank you Morgan. Howard, master of the tip. I predict the winning streak ends on Sunday. If you are predicting based upon the way Stanford played tonight, then I can't disagree.

I really fear for Stanford in that match. That match will either be an amazing game that goes 3-2 by either team or a sweep by Washington. I think the arrival of Hayley Hodsun next year will really help the cardinal on the left side. who replaces boukather on the right? Not sure, but I'm guessing Hodson. Other options are Howard and Brown.

Howard may be better on the RS..she'd get more in system sets more. Right now, unless she's getting a good set, she isn't doing crap with the ball....WAY too tentative of an out of system hitter.

Maybe Hodson will steal Burgess or Howard out of OH, and one of them will swing on the right?? yeah, I have no clue.

Dunning is always open to different combinations. He will make an initial determination based upon training camp, then test his hypothesis in the preseason. Howard would be a very good blocker on the right IMO, but I don't see her hitting Boukather like numbers. I'll guess around .250 just because she would be able to get enough tips to goose her average up to the level. Burgess on the right side seems highly unlikely because her blocking isn't strong enough.

Dunning has to do a better job getting both Burgess and Howard ready for the possibility they may play on the right side. Burgess played horribly on right last year and someone will have to next year. If Hodson is an out-of-system hitter, she's definitely on the left.

Neither Burgess nor Howard looks like a right side hitter to me. For different reasons. Howard has a classic tall girl's long approach and swing. Burgess can get up and hit quickly enough, but her footwork seems best suited to the left side. Neither has looked that good hitting on the right side, but they haven't had to play the position much. I don't know Hodson, but man do I hope she can hit opposite. What about Humphreys? I understand she hit opposite as a prep. She doesn't have the best size for a right side player, but she has some hops. BTW, Stanford wound up defending the daylights out or OSU, but their blocking was almost pathetic. The only reason is said "almost" is that they got a lot of touches in the fourth game. Straightdown blocking is nice, but it's overrated. Stop worrying about Stanford's hitting. It's all passing and defense, defense and passing for them.

It's all passing and defense, defense and passing for them. I highly doubt Humphreys will play opposite since she was recruited as a setter, but who knows. I do hope Howard or Burgess can learn to hit opposite, because Hodson is training with the national team right now, and could very well come out and steal their left side position. Um, I will continue to worry about Stanford's hitting until their outsides can get some good production. I don't know what's up with Stanford's blocking this year. They often seem late with the block. Weren't they a very good blocking team last year?

I pick a purple team. Washington or Kansa State.

Did Stanford look that bad tonight? Stats look good, especially OH.
I suspect OH depends on fate of this years team. Another regional loss to a beatable team and a change might be accepted.
If Hodson is the lights out terminator we hope for a daring move would be Brown to OPP, Hodson to OH1 and Burgess to libero. But Benjamin or Humphrey at libero and Hodson at OPP seems much more likely.

I would be very disappointed with the coaching staff if they continue to put Howard and Burgess at the OH next year even with the presence of Hodson. The latter is not the #1 recruit for nothing. She is what Stanford needs at the OH.

I'm somewhat bewildered by all the Stanford grumbling....maybe it's just coming from a handful of negative Nancys...but it's weird.
You do realize Stanford is now 21-0; 11-0 in Pac; and they're ranked #1?
Plus last nights win makes them 60-0 vs. OSU.
