Oregon takes the match 3-1 ... nice close out on the last set -- once the passing got rolling it was lights out

25-18 Oregon takes the 3-1 win.
Bettendorf, Nady and Shebby all had excellent matches. Crittenden didn't start today but ended up getting in and contributed (7 k, .417) - hopefully she can use that momentum to go forward. Scott was a little erratic early (the passing didn't help) cleaned it up. Ashen was solid if a bit predictable.
Brenner needs to play much, much better for us to have a chance on Sunday. It's her last chance to beat Stanford at home - so I hope she brings it.

Cal was serving her down the line, and she wasn't responding well earlier in the match. Stanford and Oregon are two teams that rely the most on pinpoint "3" passing. When Stanford gets it, they are unstoppable. When the Ducks get it, they get into a faster rhythm and can run those tricky offensive plays that make them so interesting. I'm usually a Card rooter, but a big win would sure help Oregon's tournament chances. I don't think Oregon can serve or block well enough to pressure Stanford, so I'll give it to the Cardinal in 4, much like at Maples where Stanford took a 2-game lead, did their usual third game walkabout, and then got down to business in the fourth game. Maybe the keys will be Howard and Shebby who both had atrocious matches. Nope, it's the same ol' same ol'--defense and passing.
