Found that these awards have been announced, and can't see they've been posted yet- www.avca.org/awards/all-america/high-school/#girls Note, here's the paragraph regarding requirements for a player to be named/ nominated (from the linked page)- "Requirements for nomination were that the student-athlete be in her senior year of high school, that she be nominated by her high school coach, that her coach be a member of the AVCA and that her individual season statistics versus all opponents for the entire season be entered into MaxPreps, a free service that aggregates and distributes data on high school sports." Obviously most of the players, from 1st team through honorable mention, seem to be going to major universities, so despite any limitations (I believe some great players don't get a chance to receive this honor because their team's stats weren't posted in Maxpreps), this is still a strong list of great players, and I'm sure is deserved recognition for a lot of hard work and talent. Congratulations to all!

Wisconsin has the most first team-ers, with 4. Given how many recruits they were bringing in for the year, and their relative prep rankings, it comes as no surprise that they would land the most on this list?

Wisconsin has the most first team-ers, with 4. I like the fact that amber McDonald gets on 1st team as libero. Liberos don't get much credit in the overall rankings prep rankings. And WI needs good liberos to replace the one that will leave eventually. I see Tionna is now listed as 6'3" instead of 6'2".

and, to answer some poster's future question, #1 recruit Hayley Hodson is not on the list because she doesn't play HS ball.

It really is a shame she's going to Louisville, what a waste.

Assume there are other great players coming into the Pac 12 (most significantly the Ms. Hodson ay2013 mentions above), but kind of surprised how few future Pac 12 players are represented in the 1st 2 teams (or 48 players). I'm only seeing 1 1st teamer (Alexa Dryer, to UCLA) and 4 in the 2nd team. (There are 8 in the 3rd team, however.)

For those who remember, the first name of the list on the second team honor is Aubrey Alford, the daughter of Laura Alford, former head coach at University of Cincinnati. She is presently an announcer on the Oklahoma Sports broadcasts for volleyball.

I guess there are not a lot of HS coaches that are member of the AVCA. Though the ones that did make the teams are pretty good, there are some obvious ones left off.

Besides, the parity in talent at the club level are blurring lists like these a lot more, year after year. It especially becomes even more apparent at the high school level with more and more emerging high school teams (another result of the growing depth of talent which creates more parity).

Brooke Morgan is not listed on any of these for WI either. There are some players missing. Isn't this the list that requires their coaches to submit all their stats to MaxPreps or something like that? I remember there is something about one of these lists that every year excludes a lot of players.

Yes...I was just trying to gauge how many. We've already listed a couple, so I think a fair number are missing...15-30% or thereabouts.

Kenzie had almost 100 more digs than Molly for the season but Molly had less receiving errors so they both bring something different. I don't think Molly is wasting her abilities going to Louisville. Anne has a great class coming for 2015 and two talented hitters for 2016 and then an outstanding libero for 2017. She can build a program to play at a high level.
