Brooke Morgan is not listed on any of these for WI either. There are some players missing. Their coaches might not be an AVCA member. Brooke hasn't played much this year due to injury I have heard

and, to answer some poster's future question, #1 recruit Hayley Hodson is not on the list because she doesn't play HS ball. Apparently she left Corona del Mar (the prep home of three other active Cardinal players) because Karch asked her to train with the national team during a part of the CdM academic year from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. There is an unwritten rule that the national team does not ask a college player to train during the academic year until the January in the year before the Summer Olympics: this is to allow her to play collegiate volleyball and miss two semesters (or three quarters) during the academic year without losing her athletic scholarship for lack of academic progress. Perhaps the "winter block" training he is offering her begins in January 2015, which would meet that criterion, but she can't drop her eighth semester of high school unless she's already met all her graduation requirements. Allowing Hodson to perform intensive training during what would have been her senior year of high school seems to be an unfair advantage... something like what Samantha Bricio, who has been on the Mexican national team since her mid-teens, would get. It doesn't break any official NCAA rules, as far as I know, but it seems somewhat fishy... and how can the private online school she is... ahem, attending... this year possibly meet Stanford's admission requirements? It must be one heck of a school...

And it only allows seniors ... I can think of five or six juniors or sophomores that I would pretty much trade this whole list for.

Brooke Morgan is not listed on any of these for WI either. There are some players missing. Isn't this the list that requires their coaches to submit all their stats to MaxPreps or something like that? I remember there is something about one of these lists that every year excludes a lot of players. There's also some significant geographic volleyfirmative action going on. But.. how good is Alexa Dreyer? 1st team here, was MVP of a big HS tournament last week, in the USAV pipeline, 6'4" and UCLA commit.... but she didn't make Tawa's Top 100. She plays for Vision, so it's not like she's underexposed.

Personally, I really liked what I saw from Molly Sauer. It really is a shame she's going to Louisville, what a waste. I am really disappointed with the libero selections. Kenzie and Molly are just great. Kenzie and Molly are both great at what they do. Kenzie had almost 100 more digs than Molly for the season but Molly had less receiving errors so they both bring something different. I don't think Molly is wasting her abilities going to Louisville. Anne has a great class coming for 2015 and two talented hitters for 2016 and then an outstanding libero for 2017. She can build a program to play at a high level. So you're disappointed that both weren't first team?

The AVCA asked for my input. I suggested 24 names I thought were deserving. Eleven were selected. The omissions that surprised me include Lindsey Ruddins, Lindsey Vander Weide, Leah Meyer and the two Assumption liberos. All were among the top 50 recruits in our Senior Aces, all are playing on nationally-ranked teams and all are having fabulous years.

Yes...I was just trying to gauge how many. We've already listed a couple, so I think a fair number are missing...15-30% or thereabouts. A higher percentage I would guess; have the same conversation every year when this list comes out. Tia Scambray was not listed last year and she's worked out pretty well at Washington. Main stumbling block is it requires a coach who is willing to put in the effort and many aren't.

JT, Do you know if the 24 you suggested had their stats in MaxPrep, and their coaches were members of AVCA?
I wondered if they asked you for input as another source of information on all the girls who qualify with stats and coaches as members, or taking your input and seeing what girls might be overlooked due to no stats in MaxPrep, or their coach not a member.
