Another question for redbeard: Why are you projecting Dani Cole as a MH in 2020? Wasn't she recruited as an OPP? Brain lock on my part. However, with Drechsel now camped out at OPP...

Madi Endsley Coast VBC 2020 GJNC 2018: Nice! Heavy arm, including angle, split, line, and deep shots. Some solid blocking too. Can she pass?

It's now official: Olivia Mikkelsen has signed with the Huskies and will join them in 2019. Mikkelsen is a 5" 10" setter from Nine Mile Falls, WA. Here is a link to the story on go huskies.com: Huskies Add Mikkelsen to 2019 ClassOne other point worth mentioning. In my recap of this season in the recent Oregon match thread, I mused that it would be great if the Huskies could somehow come up with a skilled libero/DS next season to shore up their serve receive, passing, and back row defense. Well, I had forgotten that the Huskies actually have a verbal commitment from Sianna Houghton, a 5' 10" libero/DS from Northern California for next season. I'm assuming Houghton will be a walk-on. It's possible Houghton could be an important part of the team next year.

Cook's quote: "Her ability to set the ball long distances and to set quick from on and off the net," Cook says impressed him. "It was very apparent to me that she understood how to run an offense all along the net in all three positions and she's got good speed on the run and an ability to push it forward and back across the length of the net. Then it came down the intangibles of who she is as a person, her work ethic, her competitive spirit and humility, those things were off the charts. I couldn't find a person in the state who didn't have a good thing to say about her."

And a pretty decent sophomore setter. Maybe the 6-2 is coming back. I have my doubts about a 6-2. Powell is a great foundation for the team going forward and Cook indicated that one reason for bringing in Mikkelsen was to add depth to the setter position: "We knew that we had a need for some depth at the setter position, and we had been looking for a couple years for the right player to fill that role. Finally, after a lot of searching we found the kid that we think fits that role."

I just watched a few videos of Mikkelssen setting for Splash from last club season. It looks like she moves well to the ball and the sets come out clean and fast out of her hands. She also jumps with most of her sets. I hope she'll give Ella some real competition at practice.
