In looking at Marquette. Is nt the coach suppose to forge relationships with players.? He obviously has failed with his two starting OH. Word is players not having easy time getting releases.

From the San Diego State thread, the update on the ongoing game of musical setters (chairs):
Sarah Metcalfe, a setter transfer from Chicago State has landed at San Diego State and is on their roster.
(Of the 15 underclassmen on SDSU's early 2014 roster, 10 remain.)

All-AVCA Midwest Region selection Nikki Attea apparently has release from West Virginia to transfer. Ouch. I sense a long, hard stretch coming on for WVU. From what I hear they're in no rush to hire a new coach, what with the new AD still unpacking boxes. They're losing valuable time to recruit new players and retain the old ones...

Autumn Bailey leaving Marquette, per the Big East thread. South Bend, or Big Ten? B1G where? Iowa? Back to Bond? Bailey impressed the hell out of me watching Marquette v. IL State at our subregional in December. She picked up that team and carried them on her back. Two steps farther and they'd've won. She could write her ticket at a lot of schools. ACC, maybe? I don't really know who needs what. No one needs that attitude. She really needs to fix that in order to be successful in the B1G.

B1G where? I've only seen her play twice, so I don't know much about her, but I didn't see an attitude, and I didn't mean to imply she had one. What I meant was that she was working so hard for them during that first round match against Illinois State this past fall... I think she would've set herself on fire if it would've helped. In the fifth set, they were ahead while she was in the front row, but then she rotated to the back and IL State sided out and was able to go on a run that kept her back there. I firmly believe if they'd been able to keep her in the front row, Marquette would have gone to the 2nd round. So I don't know about attitude. But the topic has come up before in reference to other players who are such fierce competitors and play at a higher level than the rest of their team. It's a hard needle to thread, and it can come off as an attitude problem. Many folks have, for example, defended Logan Tom when people have accused her of having an attitude problem. Not that I'm saying that Autumn is on the same level as Tom, but the situation has parallels. Maybe Autumn just wasn't getting enough of a challenge at Marquette, and thought she'd be happier elsewhere. I have no idea. But I really don't have reason to believe she has an attitude, and I wasn't suggesting she does. ETA: I saw Robo carry the Huskers on her back during some matches in 2013. I saw Court do it for the Badgers this year. Sometimes you have a game where nothing is going right except for one hitter getting kills, so you just feed her relentlessly until the other team figures it out. That's what was going on with Autumn during the match I'm talking about. Problem was that, whether due to passing or setting, Marquette wasn't really able to run Autumn from the back row the way that Mary could feed Robo and LC could feed Thomas. So they were a lot more limited.
