ok, might as well get this started. These teams might be undefeated when they play each other...still a few matches to be played before this time. But regardless if they are undefeated or not, IMO, these two are still probably playing for the #1 seed in the tournament, at worse #2. I'm sure plenty will be mentioned between then and now...I'd put up stats, much of which is useless, but other posters undoubtedly will (I'm thinking about you redbeard ). So my initial comments will be this: WTF!!! It's on the wednesday before thanksgiving at 5:00pm. I mean, could there be a WORST time to have this match? People having a million other things to do than fight rush hour traffic to go to Hec Ed...last minute thanksgiving shopping or beating traffic to head to relatives. I mean YIKES! Not expecting a huge turnout. It's worse because Washington can draw the best crowds in the Pac-12, but then we get this crappy schedule. It's even WORSE because this match will probably decide the Pac-12 winner and #1 NCAA seed in the tournament. IT'S EVEN WORSE because it's Vansant and Nelson's senior night, and they have to play with this crappy schedule. I'll just say this...UGH!

I'll just say this... it could be at Stanford.

This thread might as well be titled "Pac-12 Title Match."

Why should I bother putting up a statistical comparison when this thread will probably go straight to page 5 within two days? Only lunatic Hawaii fans start match threads this early. I'll wait until the real Stanford @ Washington thread is posted.

The scheduling on Thanksgiving eve is unfortunate. But I would be very surprised if this match does not draw at least 4,000 to Hec Ed, especially if both teams are undefeated. There is some momentum building in Seattle.

I'll be on the road to Vegas during this match, so I expect you all to take very diligent notes on the updates for this thread.
A notch on the loss column for either team might take the wind out of the sails a bit, but otherwise I hope this one is an insta-classic.

I can't get my head around complaining when your team gets the home court advantage in the only match Stanford and Washington will play against one another. Of all the seasons for them to play each other only once, Washington certainly got lucky that it's on their home court. Yep, it's a bummer for Vansant and company to have that as their senior night but a victory over Stanford and very likely clinching the Pac-12 title would be a nice memory for senior night.

And a loss to Stanford and very likely losing the Pac-12 title would be a horrible memory for senior night.

IT'S EVEN WORSE because it's Vansant and Nelson's senior night, and they have to play with this crappy schedule. I'll just say this...UGH! I personally like schedules like this -- but I'm definitely in the minority. Why? 1. People are somewhere else, which leads to 2. Easy parking opportunities 3. Low traffic near the arena 4. No need to fight with crowds in the arena's restroom 5. Shorter lines at concession stands I experienced an extreme version of this one afternoon in Hawaii. It was December 2000. I was in Honolulu with my wife on vacation. In the late morning, we drove to Kailua Beach, but my wife got a headache and the chills. So, we drove back to our hotel in Waikiki and she decided to get some shut eye. While she slept, I had nothing to do. So, I drove to the UH campus, parked my car in the parking structure (paid $3.00, I think), and walked in to the Stan Sheriff Center to watch a free game of women's basketball. It was between Hawaii and some small college team (I want to say Akron, but I'm not sure.). I think it was on a Sunday. So, think about it: Sunday afternoon, women's basketball, in Hawaii, versus Akron. The combination of those elements spells disaster for fan attendance. I was right. I showed up and, other than the radio (and TV?) broadcasters, there were only 20 people in the entire 10,000 capacity arena. BTW, Jessica Sudduth (former Wahine volleyball player) was there rooting for her friend Crystal Lee. Sometime in the first half (or perhaps halftime), Sudduth and a few people left, which meant that the entire arena had only me and 16 other people. It was incredibly eerie. But boy oh boy, I could get in and out of that arena and move around with comfort and ease, like butter on warm hotcakes.

Assuming neither team breaks down in the next week, this match really isn't that important. The winner goes to the top of the west regional and the loser goes to the first or second spot in another regional--maybe a big deal for UW since they might miss their own regional, but meaning nothing for Stanford.

It's impossible to not be placed into a regional you are hosting. There is no "West Regional." There is a Seattle Regional, and Washington will be in that regional regardless of what seed they end up getting.
