Does anyone think Cayley will actually be used more than just a couple play in her whole entire carrer.
I mean I see absolutely no future in Dave using a 6-2. And I don't see her becoming a RS. Especially after USC and Florida have raised the bar for RS hitters. (i.e. Katie O.=6-3, Jacque= 6-2, Pavan=6-5.)
Kanoe just turned AA. Is FOY for 2003. So, unless Dave moves Kanoe to Libero, or Kanoe gets injured or something, than I don't see Cayley being used other than just for a couple of plays.

Maybe she's happy being part of a very good program and having the opportunity to attend college at UH. IMO, that's worth a lot when you consider the risks of transferring. GO VANDALS!!  '04 PS I agree that she may not have a lot opportunity for playing time in the present scenario. |

As of right now it looks like Cayley won't see that much playing time, but you never know. Weirder things have happened like the whole Margaret-Jen Carey thing. Cayley is simply too good an athlete and a player to just sit on the bench for 4 years.

She seems happy right now and maybe it's not all about playing time.
Maybe she's happy at the University of Hawai`i and she doesn't want to go any where else. Because by the journals that she has written it seems to me that she is happy at UH and she's not upset about her playing time.

I think that may be easy to pull off when your team is #2/3 in the nation and beating everyone except the EvilEmpire. I'm guessing it'll be much harder to put on that same face of 'content just being there' next year and to watch UH lose some matches while being on the sidelines. Perhaps she truly will be, I just am just pretty skeptical that she's so okay with the situation; especially win losing comes into the picture. Just a hunch. |

This is one of my favorite topics. Anything involving Cayley is a favorite topic.
If she decides to stay at UH, then great. I'll be rooting for her if and when she plays.
If she decides to transfer, I hope she transfers to Santa Clara, San Jose State, Stanford, Cal, UCSB, or Cal Poly, as these are the schools I am georgraphically most proximate. After all, I would like to see her play. I'm sure she could transfer to a Big Ten school and possibly start but how would that help me?
Now, even if she decides to stay at UH, it doesn't mean she's happy (or unhappy). We just don't know. I mean, society depends on mutually agreed deceits. In order for one to accept another, one must put on an acceptable front.
That is all I have to say.

Where will her place be next season? The same can be said for EVERY Wahine except for Kanoe. Everyone will be finding their roles and with the amount of inexperienced players, there will be shuffling of players and different lineups.
With that said, Thurlby as a sophomore will be among the most experienced players. I say plug her in somewhere and somehow because I think she'll better the Wahine next season if she's somehow in the rotation.

I think the issue with Cayley is that Kanoe is just that good of a setter. People say to put Kanoe in at libero, but you are losing one of the best setters in the country in the process. What about the other way around though?? I know Cayley isn't as good of a defensive player as Kanoe is but if she's in the back row for all-but-two rotations, isn't that also a great option if Kanoe digs a ball or simply can't get to a second ball for some reason. I always liked the prospect of having two setters on the floor at the same time and maybe that is something that you can use the libero for (just as a second option though). Just a thought.

Can you now technically make your libero the primary setter? I thought there was a rule about the libero not being alloud to double contact the ball, probably to prevent setters being plugged in as a libero and not playing front row? If there is a rule like that nobody has been calling it, because I've seen a ton of liberos this season setting the ball with their hands.
