Tonight at Maples Pavillion the 26-0 Stanford Cardinal find themselves standing at the edge of history. Can they match the 1991 team's 27-0 start? A few weeks ago this appeared to be an easy win for the Card. But Utah's revamped lineup featuring freshman Adora Anae and Eliza Katoa has run off four straight home wins including impressive 3-0 sweeps of USC and USC, and a five set win over then #1 UW. Does Utah revert to being an easy pushover on the road, or is this new lineup featuring four strong pin hitters the real deal?

She went down with, what appeared to be, a pretty severe knee injury last weekend and didn't play in the match vs UW.

I am willing to bet that this Stanford team beats the record of 27 straight wins made by the 1991 team.

Being undefeated doesn't count for much in the ncaa tourney. Would be better if they have a humbling experience soon...

I did hear - second hand, so keep that in mind - that Katoa is done for the year. She's was replaced in the lineup by Mackenzie Moea'i, who proceeded to hit .444 on eighteen swings against UW.
Still, I have a hard time seeing this going more than four.

Still, I have a hard time seeing this going more than four. Moea'i played a lot early on and then had a bit of an injury. Glad she is back playing like a beast! I also heard that Katoa is out due to a knee injury.

Katoa is out for the year. Moea'i has hit .103 for the year...sometimes she shows up, sometimes she doesn't, but she's played more sets than Katoa and one more match so far. It's too bad if Utah is just finally putting it all together now, the season is just about over.

No not at all no such thing as a good loss, if they are going to lose I am sure they would feel better about it being to Washington at Washington. Not Utah at home in any case Stanford will win this one.

Stanford has only its second two-point lead of the set in an extremely close set.. 20-18, TO Utes (their first).
There has been a tie at just about every single opportunity but (now) two.

At 18 all, Stanford sends over a free ball that Utah mishandles. Seems to have really messed up the Utes, now it's 22-18 Stanford 2ND T/O UTAH
