Castillo will have a better shot. She's much like Greeley, too well-rounded and skilled as a volleyball player to not give a hard look. She may not start right away, but she may get a nod if Olevao really doesn't perform. Then again, it would take a horrid start for Shoji to pull the plug on a senior from Hawaii. Just saying.
Castillo may not be able to terminate at a high clip (again like Greeley) and she doesn't jump out of the gym - but she's a good one. And you can't teach 6'3-6'4. Imagine having Greeley (6'2), Taylor (6'4) and Castillo (6'4) on the outside!

I want to know who is Hawaii's next "athletic" OH/MB who can jump.
1993-1996 - Robins (I still wonder how great she could've been had she not sprained her ankle against Michigan (I think) the first tournament of the year in 1996) 1994-1997 - Crawford 1999-2003 - Willoughby 2005-2008 - Houston 2006 - 2009 - Kaufman 2008-2011 - Danielson
I know height might not mean a thing, but having these high-jumpers, so to speak, made for some spectacular kills. Watching Kaufman in 2009 hit .700 against Stanford with the type of kills she had was crazy.

I tried to watch this last night but the quality of the video was so BAD! So I gave up and went clubbing instead. ROFL. Has Cal Poly video streams always been that bad?

Hawaii's setter has location issues on her setting, and she sets #9 way too low in the middle.
Taylor is better on the right, she puts up a huge block and is a big part of the transition offense on the right and out of the D zone.
Poly has some great potential, but Crosson needs to find kids who can terminate out-of-system. You can dig balls all night long and get into 8 and 9 ball rallies, but if you lose every single one of them because you can't kill the ball after making spectacular dig after spectacular dig, ultimately you're not going to be very successful. Poly's setter telegraphs every ball she is going to set.
Poly is young. All the young talent need to get into the weightroom and get alot stronger. Crosson needs to find a terminator like that lefty girl that Stevenson had his first year he took over at Poly.

Were you at last night's game?

I kind of didn't use her only because for now, her offense is one-dimensional. She's athletic, no question, but maybe because passing and setting is suspect, I didn't mention her.

Sorry just had to say! Magill is a beast.

So I am guessing the Hawaii players that Hawaii will nominate this week for the Big West weekly awards will be Greeley for FOW, Taylor for POW and Adolpho for DPOW.
