Florida wins 3-1 but it was not a great match for either team. The Florida service errors were out of control and I hope that's something we don't have happen at Texas or the first decent ncaa tourney team we bump into in 2nd or 3rd round.

Didn't check livestat but I think it was around 19-20 service errors, and several BHE.
On the bright side Mallott (13K) and Snyder (10k?) played well on OH. This is the first time I have seen both play well during same match and contribute significantly.

Some of them were really bad doubles but the others were so minor it was hard to see on tv very little spin. Being a purist I don't mind but it does mess with the more up tempo offense when setters are forced to be more clean and with going against the grain on less than ideal digs or passes.

If Mallott and Snyder can keep this level of play up at OH I think Florida has a chance against Texas. The OH will be key to deal with Bell on Texas RS and they will have to hit and block or Bell will have a field day, and this matchup will have outcome on match.
It will be interesting how Florida sets their lineup for Alhassan......will they match her against Chi or McCage? Also, it will be fun to see Eckerman vs. Holston.

As long as the hitters hit high and flat hit smart and we pass and dig well to speed up the offense and have middles involved we should be ok I think. Serve better of course.

Don't leave out blocking... That could be a press release... "If we pass well, play good floor defense, hit well, and serve well... It should be a good match."

It seems Taylor Unroe has been doing a bit better at serving this season -- though I haven't looked at any stats for comparison -- but her old self returned today. Florida in general has better serving this year, so it's not as if the Gators really need her to bang it. I get so POed when she pounds it right into the net and then doesn't seem at all bothered by it.

No, she really hasn't. 17 aces, 58 errors and i'd say 90% of her errors aren't even close, either way long or right into the net. Why they continue to allow her to serve like that, I don't know. And I'd also wager the majority of her errors come at crucial times or after timeouts. Her serving has regressed each year, that experiment should have been dropped long ago. There isn't much reward with all that risk. A jump float would be much better because the serve she has now is nothing but a liability.

Most women's players should use jump float if they don't hit good spots with top spin just not enough power.

Disagree somewhat with above statement. The hard top spin can get a ton of aces and OOS balls. Look at the top servers in the country, what kind of serve they have?
That said too many missed serves by Unroe this season. I thought Florida played a very good match today with the one exception of the missed serves. They play like that minus the missed serves and I could see an upset against Texas
