I thought that was pretty cool. Not surprised he stayed at Stanford, but I'm sure the door is open for next season.

Even as a USC fan he should have taken this. Must be something about Russia I guess..

Maybe, just maybe, he values finishing his education?

Maybe, just maybe, he values finishing his education? One can finish college whenever they want but you won't get an offer from Kazan that often.

I see both sides of the issue. He is probably looking forward to his senior year in a comfortable environment. It is also easier to finish school now than later.
On the other hand, he can finish school whenever, it will help his development before Rio, and it was a great chance. He probably will not get this chance next year. He will play in a good league and be fine, but this was the perfect storm of events which allowed them to go out searching for the best setter available and not have to worry about the foreign player quota. If Toniutti doesn't work out, they will probably get Bruno since he will not be under contract at Modena. It will probably take him a while to get back to the Russian League, but that is fine.
He is a young guy, and I don't think any of us can blame him for wanting to use his last year of eligibility.

I also agree he should have left...But maybe Matt scared him away?

The education will always be there, but the educational experience will not be. If he leaves, he's kissing his college "experience" good bye. Having that experience is something you look back to for the rest of your life. Compare your first year of full time work, to a year of college. Work is completely forgettable when compared to the college experience.

USC should be pretty good this year with Lucas Yoder at the pin, Robert Feathers & Andy Benesh in the middle-- but fact of the matter is Micah is coming back in with more knowledge and experience from starting at the international level. This team will be at or near the top the entire season.
Micah's stock will only go up as he finishes his senior year because he can LEAD on the court which is something that can push USC to the top.

I don't know if the NCAA championship will be more impressive than the Gold medal in the World League thought. Either way, good for him

That's so crazy that a setter this young and talented is going to be playing college volleyball this year. The way the sport is growing in size and in talent level, is awesome to see.

Maybe, just maybe, he values finishing his education? One can finish college whenever they want but you won't get an offer from Kazan that often. If he's that good, and he is, there will still be an offer on the table, and he'll probably get plenty. From college straight to the Russian leagues is pretty amazing.
