What are Michigan State's ugly losses that I'm missing. It seems that Bama and LSU have much uglier. I was looking at LIU Brooklyn. Did you not notice that Bama has the same loss, plus the losses to Ole Miss which are even worse? Other than pure RPI, there isn't much that can argue these SEC teams over MSU.

No ay2013 would be nice, too. Don't get personal now Ahem... This seems really unnecessary to me. It makes Christy seem like a whiny b*tch, which is fine for volleytalkers, but not for a head coach of a major D-1 program.

If you look a little deeper, one thing that distinguishes Michigan State among this group of teams is that many of their losses to ranked teams were extremely close. (In fact, in the road loss to Ohio State, MSU actually outscored OSU.) One of the keys of the Pablo rankings is that points scored is a very good predictor of future wins. You can see this in the fact that MSU is now up to number 20 in the Pablo rankings, much higher than the other bubble teams. Perhaps this will influence the selections a little.

I'm not expecting to convince any of you. Just tired of the 'SEC teams suck' mentality. I think LSU belongs on the bubble. I think MSU and Purdue belong on the bubble. Let the committee sort it out from there.

There are teams from the Big 12 that shouldn't get in ahead of MSU, Minny and Purdue either. What I'm saying is that MSU's best wins are better than Bama's and their worst losses aren't as bad. So why isn't Alabama on the bubble? And honestly LSU isn't on the bubble, they're going to get into the tournament. The Big Ten teams are being punished for playing a tough schedule against teams who are under rated in RPI.

Aside from Oregon State, what big wins does MSU have? When you are holding up Oregon State as your "good win" you should probably sit down and shut up.

As I've made the case before. The B1G has been exceedingly successful over the past two years in the NCAA tournament. I think the depth of their success has been unprecedented with the 7 teams averaging winning 2.8 matches. Think about that for a minute. The 7 entered teams nearly averaged making it to the elite 8 over a 2 year period.
The fourth and sixth place B1G teams were arguably the second best teams in the tournament the last two years. MSU is currently in 7th, Purdue in 5th. Michigan State feels like that catch lightning in a bottle team. They are young with tremendous talent with Pablo having them at #20 in the nation.
I'm curious, does anyone know the highest pablo ranking that did not make the tournament? 20 has to be in the conversation.

This is so absurd that none of the three deserving BIg 10 teams will make the tournament as a result of RPI bs. They are more deserving than about 5 teams in the Big 12 and SEC that are going to get in, Maryland and Rutgers need to get their RP is up quick so this doesn't keep happening to the Big 10 in future years. It happens year-after-year in the West Coast, and most B1G fans don't give a damn because they actually take advantage of an RPI boost. Then you add a couple of sucky teams and see your RPIs plummet, so suddenly you notice the problem you have been ignoring for years. #nopity

I don't think anyone has even ignoring the RPI bias, and for years people hae been complaining about the inability of the RPI to accurately decide who the 32 at large bids are. But it also strikes me as odd that the west coasters will only acknowledge that the RPI is flawed because it has western bias, then this year when RPI is actually benefitting teams like CSUN and Santa Clara, talk of RPI failure decreases. The 32 best at larges should get in every ear, and punishing the Big Ten because te PAC 12 has been punished in te past is not good logic. You know as well as I do that Purdue and MSU are tournament quality teams, and St.marys getting screwed over so often in the past doesn't change that at all.

I think the NCAA should use pablo, but they don't. It's not the fault of the B1G volleyball programs that they added Rutgers and Maryland and then unbalanced their schedules, but they did. The PAC12 raised their RPIs this year the hard way, by having KICK ASS OoC winning records for the whole conference. Unfortunately for the B1G, a lot of that was done by beating up on the B1G teams in pre-conference matchups. Even if the B1G joins the "get rid of RPI" faction, though, the problem still remains that part of the reason RPI exists is to encourage conferences like the PAC and the B1G to not schedule each other, but rather to schedule teams like UALR, Western Kentucky, Hofstra, or Towson. Any of the elite teams who scheduled those two this year got basically a free win and also a great RPI boost. (Although, I admit, Purdue losing to Western Kentucky shows that there are risks and the "free win" isn't free if you aren't really at the elite level.)

Purdue screwed themselves by scheduling Kennesaw, Elon, Ashville, Notre Dame, Morehead and lost to St. louis.
All of that negated any positives that the B1G was supposed to give them. Purdue needs to play the RPI game
