She was a starter in the B10 as a frosh. That's always impressive to me.
And all-around players deserve more credit than you're giving her. Remember she was a DS, the libero, and then an OH. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with Ruff. She does not need to be the offensive go-to that she was in HS (even though I think she would love to be). She's taking on a very important role in anchoring the Gopher passing - important and frankly very needed. She can definitely still produce offensively, no doubt, but it seems that has not been her biggest asset for the team as of late.

She'll play wherever she can help the team the most, and that's probably her biggest asset. Goehner is definitely producing and will continue to do so.

I think it's great having a versatile player like that on the court. I thought she was one of bright spots last season.

I believe Goehner is a tremendous all-around player who is a great asset to the team. Her versatility is valuable and, to me, it appears that she has a good VB IQ. It is true that she is a bit undersized as a hitter,, but she reminds me of Cowles and we all know what Cowles accomplished.

I'm really excited for the teams that will be at our scrimmage this year. I think the Gophers' potential biggest problem might be simply falling into complacency (at this particular scrimmage, not in general). It will be awesome to be able to see so many native Minnesota players playing under one roof. As a Mankato State alum, I am looking forward to that particular match against the Gophers. It's something I've always sort of wanted to see just for the heck of it. Curious if Lori Rittenhouse will still be acting head coach or if someone else has been found.
A little bummed about SMSU not attending, as well.

Would still like to see a "volleyball day" in Minnesota. St. Thomas vs. Augsburg or St. Bens; Concordia vs. UMD, Mankato, or Southwest State; and finished off by a Gopher match. I think that would be fun to see.

Rittenhouse should be the new head coach, if she wants it, imo.

Will there be any fans at the Gophers' scrimmage tomorrow with Illinois? I'm so curious about many things. I don't even know if it's an open scrimmage (match?) but if anyone's there, please post. They're playing somewhere by Milwaukee, right? Any Badger fans free to scout?
Also, I love ugopher's idea of a volleyball day in Minnesota. I think hockey includes the younger levels, too. Wouldn't it be fun to have some middle school and high school teams playing too, since it wouldn't be during the club season?

They are playing in Wisconsin, I take it?

Drills late morning. Match at 1 p.m. Open to public. Should have fair attendance because it's the facility where Milwaukee Sting practices and both Minnesota assistant Matt Houk and Illinois middle Katie Stadick have ties to that program.

Here is a posting from Katie Stadick's dad. They are from Wisconsin.
Katie Stadick and Fighting Illini Volleyball will take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers at the Center Court Sports Complex in Waukesha, WI on Saturday, April 4.
(Note: During spring season, the matches themselves are usually less intense, but the day provides more opportunities to say hi to players and watch them practice)
10:30-11:30 Drills 11:30-12:30 Lunch 12:30-1:00 Warmups 1:00 Match

Minnesota's going after one particular big fish in the 2018 class who has reciprocated much interest. No timetable on the recruitment, but it's an interesting one to follow!
Anyways, anyone know when the regular season schedule normally comes out?? May or so?

I would think it has to be fairly soon here. Hugh talked a bit about the upcoming fall schedule and mentioned some particular teams in his last podcast. Should help the RPI.
