If the Class of 2014 (Koelsch, Maglio, Greeley, Huff, Guinasso) end up with just ONE starter -- Greeley -- over the next four years, it'll be depressing. I think I may go into a deep dark funk if Maglio ever went "the way of Tuaniga." I think Shoji is always going to pick Higgins over Koelsch. Maglio hardly played, even when Adolpho was really struggling early in the season. It's likely she'll be like Tuaniga or Amanda Simmons. With people like Juliana Sanders and Amber Kaufman, Shoji saw something in them early on, so he found ways to play them. I'm just thinking that the fact Maglio hardly played even with just three middles in the roster does not bode well for her. Huff really is a wildcard. She's what Shoji would call "raw." what i like about maglio is that she's quick to close the block. that's an ability that shoji has valued very highly, possibly more than an MB's offensive production, over the years. which leads me to think that maglio will have a strong chance at seeing more playing time. as many have said already ... mitchem may be too valuable to just have on the court for 3 rotations. the 2nd middle spot could be wide open come the fall. and maglio for sure will get valuable reps this spring with adolpho graduating.

Okay so Hawaii needs a new assistant pronto since club recruting season will be in full gear by February. Shoji seems to have a type, good recruiters, former mpsf players, good looking. Any ideas hawaii fans??

Any ideas hawaii fans?? I think "good looking" is at the top of his criteria list, although he whiffed on that with Howard Wallace and Charlie Wade. Also, under the wrong light and from a certain angle, Mike Sealy looks absolutely hideous.

Interesting. Would he leave UCLA beach gig though? I kinda doubt it. Brent Hilliard ( probably not)? Armen Zakarian? David Hunt ( would be my choice) Lauri Hakala, Cullen Irons, Matt Anderson?? Kawika Shoji ?

Kawika Shoji ? Hawaii needs to look for their next Head coach with this new position.... Shoji needs to make a decision, coach another year and step aside for a new era to start.

Kawika Shoji ? Oh, I don't think Stein would be opposed to leaving UCLA for an assistant coach/head beach coach gig at Hawai'i. Would depend on the money.

I wonder if whomever they hire will also be named head coach for the sand volleyball team or if they plan on separating out the coaching positions.

If Shoji will hire a head coach in waiting then my choice is former Hawaii men's associate coach Dan Fisher. The Pittburgh job probably pays a lot more than the UH associate job/sand volleyball head job put together though.
